Cataphractii Shoulderpads

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I started assembling my Terminators from the B@C-box, but I'm stuck with the top plate of their shoulderpads. They don't seem to fit that well.

- When I mount them with the edge of the top plate against the raised piece of the bottom one, the top one seems to cover all the detail of the bottom one. And it just looks bad, since it has a slight tilt compared to the bottom palte.

- When I place the top plate more towards the body of the terminator, it gets all wobly. It looks better and is probably the way to go, but it looks like it could snap of again by a breath of air.

For whatever reason the plastic cataphractii pauldrons don't fit the way the FW ones were intended to and leave a huge, ugly gap between the shoulders and torso. I would definitely try to make them look more like the FW ones. If they don't feel secure, you could always glue them to both the torso and the rest of them arm or even pin it to the torso if you have the time.

When I was doing my Death Guard pauldrons, the new pauldrons had not come out. On the bottom side of the pauldrons, there was a ball and a bit of extra resin meant for the resin Cataphractii models. I had to cut those off before I attached them. As for the fit, my Terminators look great, in my opinion.

So, see if there are those bits of resin underneath the shoulder pads and excise them. If they're not there, use copious amounts of glue or maybe even some Green Stuff to make them look like they're supposed to.

I tried to glue them the way FW did. I'll just have to wait and see if the glue holds up, since there isn't much surface to attach the top pad to. I wish you hadn't mentioned the gap, I keep seeing it now biggrin.png Thanks for the help

It's the plastic kit with a very smooth finish. No unwanted flash to clean up. But I'll use the green stuff if my current attempt isn't working out. Thanks for the tip

I've built about 25~30 of the things like how you describe, and I've never had an issue.

As I was magnetizing mine, I glued so that the torso sides were level, then glued the pads to the torso. Super strong bond with plastic glue. I did glue all the pads to each other before attaching them to the torsos.

Cheers,

Jono
