So, did space wolves have grey or metallic power armour back in the heresy? Because a lot of the artwork seems to be metallic power armour. I kind of like the metallic look over the storm-grey, but that's just my opinion and I would like to hear your opinions on the matter.

So, from a collector/fluffy/artistic point of view there would be nothing wrong with painting space wolves in a dim metallic scheme? Maybe even some sort of metallic/grey combination.

I do think grey is an okay colour but it looks so dim and boring, however a dark gun metal would bring some spark to the VIth.

That sounds awesome. Go for it! I think betrayer41 has done something similar with his Vlka, and it looks brilliant.

Well if GW makes a plastic MK III or II kit I'll be all over the idea. Either wolves or DA.

Hey man let me know what you come up with ts tricky painting like that and not having it come out looking like IW

Sure thing, I've got some space wolves around to test on.

So I played around with some schemes and I think I settled on one. Much happier with this then my grey. It feels more like gritty armor. As soon as I can borrow a camera I'll post pictures.

Creamywynch has a nice metallic Space Wolves army. I believe his method is leadbelcher with two coats of nuln oil and one of agrax earthshade

Thanks I'll check it out.

I've been quite inspired after seeing Russ, it's a really nice mini (except for the ridiculous sword). Now I'm just hoping for some plastic MK III (and selling some of my old stuff) :D

Oh these look really nice. Looks like leadbelcher with a series of washes, am I wrong?

Which models?

The troops are black with grey airbrushed over and burnt iron over that then black oil wash.

The tanks are black, grey, and then vallejo burnt iron and that's it no washes or highlights.

The tanks, sorry for not specifying. Vallejo burnt iron seems to be for airbrush, any thoughts on a suitable counterpart for brushes? Or could it be applied with a brush anyways?

It works on brush just fine. It goes on thin which I love
