Iron Hands Fanatic
Hey folks, as I build AdMech I was wondering do we know if/when Skitarii will be available in 30K? It's possible Inferno will include the rules for the Secutarii as it includes Titans, but I'm pretty sure FW have said previously the Skitarii will only really appear when they cover the Martian Civil War, as in 30k at least they're under the command of the Fabricator General, so aren't really relevant to the rest of the Mechanicum. Much appreciated, I remember the preview of the conversion kits so wasnt sure what exactly they meant. :] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326241-will-the-skitarii-be-in-inferno/#findComment-4513949 Share on other sites

That seems like a rather significant change since I'm pretty sure there were Skitarii in Know No Fear at Calth. I could understand it if the wording was that they were more of a "home guard" force during 30K rather than the go-to shock troop force they are in 40K. Corswain
They were definitely in Know No Fear. Not sure when we'll see them in a FW rule set though. It's bound to happen sooner or later but sooner would be nicer. It's bound to happen sooner or later but sooner would be nicer. I imagine the release of the Securatii will be pointing to sooner, rather than later. They probably have to figure out a suitable point adjustment and then what kind of options and equipment they would need that would properly draw the distinction between 30K Skitarii and 40K Skitarii. Although that shouldn't be too hard since the 40K army is very minimalist. Vodunius
I'm faily certain all of the Magi in Mechanicum had Skitarii as well. I'm convinced it went something like this: FW: "Can we do Skitarii?" Head Office: "No." FW: "Pretty please." Head Office: "NO." FW: "Er. Um. Can we do Taghmata Omnissiah?" Head Office: "What?" FW: "Totally not Skitarii." Head Office: "Fine whatever." At which point FW goes back to the office and changes every mention of Skitarii in the draft rules to Taghmata and writes up some blurb to explain that Skitarii are something totally different.. which no other branch of GW ever reads. Well the Skitarii are in different that while they are all augmented soldiers in the service of the Machine God, not all augmented soldiers in the service of the Machine God are Skitarii. Sort of like branches in the military. The Taghmata are the entirety of the armed forces. The Skitarii are the Marine Corp, Tech Guard the National Guard, etc etc etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326241-will-the-skitarii-be-in-inferno/#findComment-4514798 Share on other sites
Lord_Ikka
In Mechanicum, one of the big battles that is mentioned is one where 90 thousand Skitarii clash and almost all are wiped out. Know No Fear has Arook, a Skitarii commander, as a secondary character. Winds up staying behind as a rear guard with Captain Sullus of the Ultramarines to give UM command as much info as possible on the Word Bearers' movements. It seems like the authors use Skitarii and Thagmata as interchangeable, even though they seem to be seperate forces. Lol. I think the conversation was more: FW: "Can we do Skitarii?" GW: "Silence! I've just had a brilliant idea! We're going to do Skitarii!" FW: "Ummmmm....." Next GW will start doing Heresy!;) I think Kol Saresk is right, we'll see slighlty adjusted versions to fit with 30K. I tend to think we'll see offshoots and sub-factions but maybe not a carbon copy that fits with the 40K models. I'm not terribly bothered by that.
