Dindrenzi
Hey folks, Can anyone recommend any models I can buy at a reasonable price to practice on before I attempt my resin models? Or would I be better off just jumping straight in to my BaC box? Corswain
Got a bits-box? I just put together s MKVII marine form all the bits I've accumulated over the years. If not, jump into it. Just do one and keep at it untill you're happy then move on to the rest. You can always strip the paint off your tester. Dindrenzi
Ebay's not much cheaper than GW shops lol. Think i'll just jump in, plan is to paint 5 models at a time to the best of my abilities, and go from there. This forum really helps for inspiration and good guides, looking forward to getting started (when I get some mythical 'spare' time!) Grotsmasha
Look for the Dark Vengeance snap-fit models, they're definitely on the cheap side. sockwithaticket
Depends what you're looking to achieve. You can practice basecoating, layering and edge highlighting on pieces of sprue. If you specifically want to practice painting space marines, then you're best off trawling ebay for some deals. Lord_Ikka
eBay can be alright- if you know what to look for and how to bid. Don't try to get anything from a professional seller like Bits World except for specific bits that you can't do without, otherwise it can be just as expensive as GW. Look for stuff that is already painted, opened kits, or random bits lots. Stripping off paint isn't hard but some people are afraid of doing it so your competition is less. I just managed to snag 15 Mk VI-VII marines with special/heavy weapons bits for 17 bucks. And earlier I got a ton of DA random icons/weapons for cheap. It is all about knowing your bits, knowing what you want to pay/what something is worth, and sticking to your budget. If you lose the auction, there is always another one coming up and it might be even better.
