Runefyre
I've completed and primed "Gaer Vindr" as he is called. I'll post pics later today. Won't get to paint him 'till I'm done with my Ultramar Battle Muster vow. Anyone else done any work on their model? Dantay VI
I have been working on my Grey Knights so I can sell them for more Space Wolves. I have a terminstor with standard. A GH standard and a half built breacher standard. codyrstuart
I haven't. I've been focused on finishing my Tale of 20 Legions commitment. He should find his way into the queue next month. RikuEru
I cleaned up all the parts and have it all lined up. But the last two weeks were mostly spent with preparing for tomorrow (big "test" at work) and angrily boltering down heretics and xenos in Eternal Crusade to drown RL anxiety in virtual fury. ...but I'll get to him on Thursday once all of it is over and I have a day off. Vykryl
Im bashing one in my normal add fashion :D A pile of random Wolf and Dwarf bits, a knife, no plan, lets see what turns out ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/2/#findComment-4536215 Share on other sites
Gemini
Vykryl I've had some of my favorite things come out of that situation! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/2/#findComment-4536323 Share on other sites
Vykryl
I ended up with a halberd that I intend to hook a pennant to, waiting on bits. What I need to do now is figure out what to put in his other hand. Maybe a pistol or pointing hand? Runefyre
Whew! Glad to have the past few days actually IN the past. play rehearsals are quite gruelling Anyway, here's Gaer Vindr all primed. Still have a some touch-up on the standard pole, but he's pretty much ready to paint. Dantay VI
Looks awesome RF. If you can manage it without damaging the model, I would suggest taking him off the base for painting as the scenery is really going to get in the way of your paint-job. I am leaving my base blank for his new owner to decorate in a way which suits their army :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/2/#findComment-4539999 Share on other sites

I am leaving my base blank for his new owner to decorate in a way which suits their army I've always painted my models while glued to their bases, this won't be too much trouble Thanks for the tip though! Guess I didn't stop to think about basing compatibility, maybe I won't paint the base so at least the colour scheme can match whoever gets him. Considering I still haven't decided on a basing scheme for my army 3 years on, that might be the way to go lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/2/#findComment-4540008 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Any ideas how to make a wrap for the handle of the standard?? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/2/#findComment-4541136 Share on other sites
RikuEru
Any ideas how to make a wrap for the handle of the standard?? Thin yarn? Glue and it gets hard? ...or a rubber band? Cut it open at one side, wrap it around carefully, glueing as you go around. Could look reaaally awesome, if done right. ...I'm working on the banner bearer aswell. He'll be armed to the TEETH! You wanna know how much? Well, with a bolter, boltpistol, 3 knives (including a hook blade. It has a hook... and a blade.), a powersword and grenades... ...and I just don't have enough room for a melter bomb. And while other chapters would have the most stoic men carry their honorary banners, we DO NOT! My one stands there, arms stretched out, crying out a warcry and an insult in one sentence - to the enemy across the battlefield. As is proper for the Vlka Fenryka. And something to leave you guys guessing: I'll work Stormfang bits into the whole piece. And it's NOT for the base ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/2/#findComment-4541175 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
You going for a shoulder mounted Helfrost destructor or something?? Surprised your banner bearer will be able to move under all that steel!! I tried the yarn but it did ot work out so well, plus the glue clumped on the yarn in places. The elastic band is a good idea, but stretchy could be an issue. Decided to go with a very thin strip of paper which I will wind around. Fingers crossed!! Fingers crossed!! ...that could be an idea for a dread or centurion banner bearer. Haha! Oh well, he has to stand there with the banner. He doesn't have to run. Probably the reason why he's provoking the enemy to come TO him. Hrm. Okay. Was worth a try. I'll try out the rubber bands for some leather wrappings in the future. Good luck! Vykryl
Got some bits in today :D Now to figure out what to do with his left arm and decide on a helm or bare head. Dantay VI
Outstretched pointing arm, so either pointing someone to go somewhere or "I am coming for you". Bare head, helmet on belt sword on belt Pshow big arefyreslayer weapons compared to dwarf axes? Also, os itme, oris it getting harder to get dwarf bits these days? Vykryl
The halbard uses two handles from the big dwarf axe, one with the bearded dwarf head engraved on it that also looks like a kraken. Butt is bottom half of dwarf standard pole turned upside down. Top is a backwards fyreslayer pick with a fyreslayer axe blade attached. Pennant is from some elf kit. I add a few dwarf bits to my orders every time and have a good stock pile going :) The Fyreslayer stuff scales as well as the old dwarf bits. The picks andberserker throwing axes are about the best scaled for marines. The throwing axes are perfect for tucking around the model for extra ccw. Dantay VI
Hmm... I wonder if the axe head you ahve there will scale okay with a terminator? I had considered mixing fyreslayer bits in with the dwarf bits, as I am finding them hard to come by. Could you mix them up with the longbeard bits without it looking "odd"? Vykryl
The picks and throwing axes are good scale for PA. The new axe heads scale same as the old ones, look good on TDA or for frost axes on PA. About same size as the longbeard axes. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/2/#findComment-4543976 Share on other sites

Dantay VI
Was looking at December 8th 1800GMT to get the banner bearer finished. Get names chosen at random. Then get the models posted out. It'll be up to yourselves to then get your model in the mail asap. Then if the postie is feeling charitable you should get a gift for Christmmas :) Only completed models will go into the hat to avoid disappointment I will sort mine before then as I go offshore on the 5th till the 27th.
