RikuEru
Great choice of head - I chose the same and cut down the iro to the same length (the braid too though). Brothers from another mother? Grest paintwork aswell, I'll try to get something nearly as good for his face. Dantay VI
Hahaha maybe Riku... Word of warning, the head is not symmetrical as I found to my cost. Took 2 nights and several repaints but this is as close as I could get Now I just need to highlight the face properly again Grey Hunter marking on the studded pad or no?? I am not going to show any more pics now, as I want to keep a small element o surprise for whomever receives him ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/3/#findComment-4547547 Share on other sites
Nadir
Marking on the studs: NO! Do it on the knee pad instead. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/3/#findComment-4547591 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Okay, so I lied... I got Photobucket working again. Nadir, grey it is :) Still not 100% happy with the face but will call it quits for now. He is an ugly brute is all I will say!! Hope his eventual owner will like him :) http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20161031_225259.jpg http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20161031_225543_1.jpg Looking at the gauntlets, toes and elbows, I have begun some "weathering" not too extreme I hope!! http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20161031_225353.jpg http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20161031_225428.jpg http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20161031_225443_1.jpg Should I do both knees red? or switch the bone and red around, as I feel there is a lot of red down one of the model. Also what design should I do on the fore-arm and leg, if any?? http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20161031_225513_1.jpg http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20161031_225555.jpg http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20161031_225605_1.jpg Thoughts?? Gemini
Thoughts? He looks AMAZING. I like the red knees on my guys, I put the matching pack marking on the shoulder and knees (so anyone can tell what pack they're in from the front or the side). My own guy suffered a horrible priming accident and had to go back into "The Vat of Shame" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/3/#findComment-4549972 Share on other sites
mactire
Just to let you all know I'm working away on my standard bearer, but I won't be posting pictures. It'll be like a Secret Santa for some lucky/unlucky brother. Got say Danty's is looking fantastic. codyrstuart
So, I chugged away and did the banner tonight. For my first major freehand design, I am extremely pleased. http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah7/codyrstuart/20161114_210431_zpsivcz941s.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/3/#findComment-4562251 Share on other sites

RikuEru
That's what I threw together. The banner will stay a little secret, for now......but I only have the first few steps done of painting him. Will have to sit myself down for that some more. codyrstuart
So, before moving forward, I wanted to get a consensus on a couple things. Is the majority painting in pre or post heresy colors, and are you doing the base as well? I am leaning towards not basing to allow the recipient to base to match their army. I have also started painting in post heresy colors, but can switch it if the majority is painting or their army is in pre heresy grey. Just don't want to make people do more work Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/3/#findComment-4563821 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Lol. Paint your banner bearer in your colours! He has been seconded from Redmaws great company to whomevers great compny he is to join. He wears his colours and honour markings with pride :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/3/#findComment-4563827 Share on other sites
Vykryl
I haven't based any of my models, just paint the bade with rynox hide. Ready for anything if I want to base them later ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/3/#findComment-4563855 Share on other sites
codyrstuart
Lol I recognize my failing, and will be sure to correct it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/3/#findComment-4563871 Share on other sites
Gemini
Well I don't have 'Rhinox Hide' but a good, dark brown, the base will be painted! At this point I'm liking this banner bearer better than the one I assembled and painted for myself :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326581-the-colours-of-war/page/3/#findComment-4563941 Share on other sites

Gemini
My bearer is also complete... the banner he is supposed to be bearing has been lost to the warp... good thing there's still some time in November. RikuEru
My bearer is almost completly finished aswell. ...but I can't link the pictures I uploaded from my phone. Not even in the non-mobile Version. The Banner needs a little work still... ...any idea how to make cloth look a bit burned? codyrstuart
Gemini, sounds like those bastards of Magnus are up to their usual trickery. Riku, best I could think is thin layers of a black wash, building it up darker the closer you get to where it was burning.
