Sisterhood of the Damned Idea

No, put down the flamers, I'm not talking about Fallen Sisters!

Okay.

I'm sure this has been thought of but couldn't come up with anything on Google. Looking at Legion of The Damned as a heavy infantry army. Their codex seems fairly limited, the models are very expensive. But I like the idea of servants of the Emperor fighting beyond death. Flame weapons, cool looking. Undead.

Wondered if anybody has borrowed the Legion vibe and mixed it with Sisters - an Order of Sisters who have somehow transitioned into undead, continuing to fight the good fight.

I think the look would be awesome but I'd like to come up with a different back story, obviously.

Whew. Good thing you opened your post the way you did. I went and got my flamer before I opened this thread. It was primed and everything. :P

If executed properly, I might be on board. Personally, it will still probably involve warpy shenanigans. And I do consider THAT heresy. I'm interested to see exactly how you explain it, in any case.

Part of what I love about Sisters IS their mortality - they fight without fear even though they are merely human.

Like I said, I look forward to seeing what you do (now I have to break the news that there isn't any heresy here to the Retributor squad I brought with me).

I had thought about doing this before. You could paint sisters up like ghosts - similar to how people used to paint the Spirit Hosts for Vampire counts (do a google image search) - so a lot of drybrushed blues and whites. Call them the Spirits of Sainted Martyrs, whom appear only in the time of most dire need to protect and aid only the truly faithful. Similar to the spirit of the dead sister whom appeared multiple times to Ibram Gaunt during the Sabbat Martyr story arc. A Blessed vision so holy, that it burns and turns back the unfaithful tide of nonbelievers whom dared beset the Imperial forces.

If you dig deep enough, you can always find fluff to justify what you want smile.png

Also, I'm surprised at the cries of heresy when we have multiple Saints whom have returned from the dead to aid us only to vanish again. St. Celestine and St. Sabbat - just to name a couple. Such is the Emperor's grace that the most holy of our martyrs may return to aid us. Seems legit to me.

I believe Aqui is making LOTD out of some Canonesses.

No problem in using the models you like!

I'm using regular Sisters with an out of print Canoness (the one with the Combi-flames and "I" Symbol ) as the Sergeant :)

They aren't finished yet though...

In my little group, the saint just pops back up out of nowhere to lead the charge for every fight the girls get into. Hell even my knights and penitent engines are just the same ones over and over even when you'd think it impossible. There's just things at work on their planets that don't want them to die yet.

Wouldn't bug me much. Like someone said, the Sisters already have enough miracles going on a regular basis. Might actually be a good way to fix Celestians! Call them them Risen Martyr's then use Sister models and play them as LotD. Personally I would stick with bolters and melta for weapon options.

I like the spirit host concept, but I think with them being Sisterly I would go with a fire elemental theme rather than just ghostly. Maybe even adding green stuff flames from their shoulders, robes, back pack and gloves/weapon to reinforce the look. I think I may have found a use for those squads of all helmet converted Sisters I have...

The risen spirits of Sisters who died fighting to the last for the Emperor amidst the corpses of His enemies. Immune to fear they sought only to bring judgement to ever more filth before the Emperor took them to his side. So, literally like every fallen Sister of Battle out there!

OP; thanks for getting this idea into my head.....

So, thinking of this as a psuedo competitive Sisters themed force. One SoB CAD with a LotD detachment and IK Errant thrown in themed like the LotD. 1850 point list combining all elements, Canoness rides with the Repentia. Thoughts appreciated on whether this list would be a tough nut to crack, thematically interesting and fun to play, and a bit of a surprise for most folks in the typical meta? Usable against GSC as I know there are at least five armies with a supposed competitive lean being started locally.

Slightly alternate build would be to put the BSS squads in rhino's and grab a PenEngine to keep close for its double Heavy Flamers once the GSC get things up and running.

Sororitas Detachment:

HQ: Canoness w/ mantle of ophelia, rosarius, eviscerator, bolt pistol

Elites: Repentia (5),Immolator w/ twin multi-melta, stormbolter

Troops: 4 X BSS (5) w/ two flamers, Immolator w/ twin multi-melta

F Att: 2 x Dom (5) w/ four meltaguns, Rhino

Sororitas Risen Martyrs Detachment:

LotD Squad (5) w/ meltagun, multi-melta, centurion w/ combi-melta, Animus Malorum

LotD Squad (5) w/ meltagun, multi-melta, centurion w/ combi-melta

Knight Errant w/ heavy srubber, thermal cannon, thunderstrike gauntlet, ironstorm missile pod

I've seen actual LotD models done with green inks for a spectral look but I prefer the black armour and bones motif myself.

Thanks for the replies folks.

I think the tricky part is going to be writing a decent back story for them . Possibly them failing in their duties or being forced to make an impossible vow.

Rather than assuming they failed in their duties, I am going to assume that mine were forced to fight to the death. In doing so they brought down so many of the Emperors enemies that he rewarded them with yet another task, and another, and another....

Mine are restless. Their duty has ended, but they have the urge to carry on what they started. They cannot find rest beside the God-Emperor, so they roam the Imperium in an attempt to be able to finish what they could not in life.

Including the former Canoness of the Canoness of my DIY Order...
