Xenith
Technically, didn't Magnus become a Daemon Prince after Prospero? I'm pretty sure when he's talking to Lorgar in Betrayer, he's already at least a quasi-Daemon Prince. Russ broke his back batman style at the tragedy on Prospero, severing Magnus ties to the purely physical plane forever. I'd say he's been semi-daemonic since. My impression was that Russ incapacitated Magnus, and at least partial daemonhood was part of the deal Magnus made to save his Legion before Russ could take his head off. Strong psychic presences have sentience and almost a corporeal form in the warp. Magnus was such, even though he had a physical body, he didn't need it to survive, his psyche was so powerful. So powerful that he became a full blown daemonic manifestation in the golden throne room when he tried to warn the emperor, instead of the usual whispers and psychic echoes. I think he was already a prince at this point, but still had his physical form tying him to this plane of reality. When Russ broke his back (crippled or killed? Do we know?) this severed his tie with the mortal plane, and making him full daemon. In the same way that some daemons can only be killed when they manifest/take on a physical form. Plaguecaster
Lol :D the way FW are going we will probably see 40k version of all the primarchs before FW catches up (well at least if the rumours are true about the loyaltist one at least). Funny we get the daemon version redo before the actual FW Primatch version :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326692-so-gw-dropped-a-bomb-today/page/2/#findComment-4528525 Share on other sites
bluntblade
As per ATS, Magnus is crippled and then speaks impossible words, causing his physical form to dissolve just before Russ can land the deathblow Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326692-so-gw-dropped-a-bomb-today/page/2/#findComment-4528543 Share on other sites

I don't think he would have been a daemon prince at that point. Several other characters have been written of as astral projecting through the warp. Magnus was just stronger than all of them save the Emperor. Also, had he been in any sense daemonic in nature, when he contacted with the Emperor after he broke the Golden Throne seals, I don't think the order of the Emperor would have been to bring him back alive. He didn't want Magnus dead, just back in Terra where he could control him. After all, it's heavily hinted that Magnus would have been the occupant of the Golden Throne when the project was complete, had the Emperor's plans been fulfilled. Terminus
If "overwhelming vision of the future lost" counts as "heavy hinting", then yes, it was very heavily hinted Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326692-so-gw-dropped-a-bomb-today/page/2/#findComment-4528911 Share on other sites
