OrangeBob
Dear B&C, I've watched a few tutorials wherein the painter has used an easy dry brushing technique to do the edge highlights. I struggle mightily with edge highlights by hand on vehicles. The question is: what kind of brush would be good for this? My actual trusty dry brush is way too messed up for the task. So, any recommendations about brushes and any advice about the procedure would be very appreciated. Thanks. Major_Gilbear
Get yourself to an artist's art supplies shop (Michael's in the US perhaps?) and look through their natural bristle brushes. I personally feel that for drybrushing Hog hair is best - it's quite stiff but still flexible, and the bristles tend to be medium-short in length. They will sell lots of shapes and sizes, and you can look through and see what you like the look of best for your intended project. I generally go for flat or oval-shaped brushed, with sizes between 2-7 depending on what I'm drybrushing. WarriorFish
For vehicles a flat brush is best, but not one that's too large - I like to use one that's under 1" for normal sized vehicles as that isn't too much that you don't have some fine control and the bristles can be stiff enough. Otherwise the technique is as you would expect, normal dry brushing but with the flat side across the raised bits and edges etc :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326715-brush-for-dry-brushing-vehicle-highlights/#findComment-4527359 Share on other sites
