Skitarii Baneblade

As I'm not too fond of the skeletal Ordinatus design and ever-present knights, something else as centerpiece for our cog-worshipping fellows, a skitarii baneblade. My skitarii are themed as a regular army (not steampunk circus or legio cybernetica), so improved military hardware would be the centerpiece. Acting as command tank with high-ranking skitarii, and a magos tending to his "archaeotech" cannon. The front sports defensive weaponry, and enough servo arms to collect interesting pieces left on the battlefield. Needless to say, pretty much every weapon was replaced with skitarii/cult stuff, but it still counts as a regular baneblade.

I was wanting to do this for a while, and I have to say it's a remarkable  job! IT looks friggen awesome! I especially looks awesome with the extended treads and and servo arms with guns everywhere and gunners in different places along the machine. Only issue is the  black exotic bits. I dunno but they look too... Xenoy. Maybe paint it all bronze or red? maybe a more machined metal?

also how the heck did you get the tech priest like that?

Nah, the gun remains as is. All guns are painted black, just to give some contrast and stick out. And the priest was easy, just cut off stuff, and slightly repositioned the left arm. Since the Start Collecting box, everyone has spare priests...

Impressive work, but why replace the Baneblade tracks with many sets of Taurox tracks? For redundancy, so the tank can continue moving after a mine or other enemy attack destroys one set of tracks?

Redundancy would work, but rather a smoother running. Individual track units mean a more flexible suspension, compensating for uneven ground, and allowing the tank to fire a gun on the move, that lesser races *cough* would need to stop for. Otherwise, just because the regular baneblade was too small, this adds quite a bit of size. The scion style matches the style of breacher armour or the macroarid explorator, and I had 3 full sets lying around anyway.

A Baneblade's turret-mounted big gun (excluding the coaxial autocannon and the pintle-mounted storm bolter or heavy stubber) have the "Primary Weapon" special rule, and can be fired on the move. Do you mean to give its other weapons (including the one replacing a standard Baneblade's hull-mounted Demolisher cannon) the ability to fire on the move? Then you should write a special rule that gives the Baneblade's weapons that ability.

Nah, that was just a nod to the necron doomsday cannon (which I used as barrel) rule about not being able to fire when moved. Obviously, if you care to use the correct rituals, instead of just expecting it to work, the machine spirit will be more cooperative. biggrin.png The rules I use are those of a standard baneblade, I don't care about custom rules or ingame performance, just wanted a fitting centerpiece.

Any more IG stuff...I have a converted valkyrie and scions with vanguard heads. I'll make photos on saturday at AoP.

Is it . . . a RED Valkyrie??? blink.png

Nah, a few more changes. Replaced the side-mounted multilaser with a nose-mounted one, the ugly rocket pods with an auto-loading LandSpeeder one, and put on a few of the IK AdMech symbols.
