Jackalwolf
So fellas, Just wondered if you'd be kind enough to give some thoughts on the fluff for my legion. In summary, they're a millennial led by Terran leadership that was exiled by Fulgrim because they grew discontent with the course the legion took on the later half of the great crusade. They have 3 key persons in their leadership team: a Lord Commander, a Legion Champion and a Chaplain. These are the miniatures for them: -Lord Commander http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/ah128/Grieux/Legio%20III/fd59f2b8-2aca-4475-bdfd-a3a29b26860a_zps2yl5j7vu.jpg -Legion Champion http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/ah128/Grieux/Legio%20III/a81bf21c-3638-4496-80fd-84ff75f3aa8f_zpsibhnyz2a.jpg -Chaplain http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/ah128/Grieux/Legio%20III/D4EB8FE5-68E3-451C-B881-1442AE4218E9_zpsctbi3vl4.jpg I do enjoy mixing my own fluff with established "facts", so their story is woven between campaigns such as Proxima, Tranquility, et al The main characters I've created are the following: -Cadmus: Terran born and member of the last 200 survivors from the legion before the reunification with Fulgrim -Chaplain: Had visions of white flames consuming a phoenix and ever since grew suspicious of the mainstream legion, converting himself into a Zealot by when the treachery is discovered. So my first doubt is whether to take Cadmus as my Lord Commander or my Legion Champion, and then utilize Lord Commander Anteus from the fluff as the third persona. Con is that nothing is known about Anteus other than he was a commander during the crusade and the heresy but no knowledge of his allegiance or anything. The second doubt is on the Chaplain. Since there is no established fluff for any loyalist EC Chaplain, i'm leaning on naming him Chaplain Culln as a wink to the Red Scorpions that will come and make him the only survivor of the three leaders by when the heresy is over. Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
The Chaplain: while I cannot recall info on a loyalist Chaplain, we know there were traitor chaplains. Maybe have your Chaplain a normal line trooper, start having his visions, slay a traitor Chaplain and appoint himself in their vacant role. He watches over his brothers with the threat of immediate execution for any who show any disloyalty Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326767-help-naming-my-characters/#findComment-4528847 Share on other sites

Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
BOOM! Badass Chaplain model now has badass Chaplain background! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326767-help-naming-my-characters/#findComment-4528865 Share on other sites
Idomeneus
Man, the Chaplain is badass. My reservation about the name is that since your other characters have Greek names I'd take a name from Greek culture. Phineas and Tiresias were seers if you want to go down the visions route. Jackalwolf
Hmm I hear what you're saying... any other Red Scorpion notable figures do have any more suitable names? It would be specially ideal if it could be a Chaplain since the Scorpions have such a view on gene seed purity it could directly be derived from the meddling of Fabius and the Laer that destroyed their legion which makes them be very aware of how close to fall they can be if they steer course from the gifts the Emperor gave them rather than from simple xenophobia. Idomeneus
A quick search doesn't turn up any Greek sounding Red Scorpions. If you really want to maintain the link with the Scorpions then Sevrin Loth, Ainaea and Ortys are a little more Hellenic in style than Culln, but none of them are great. apologist
Perhaps you could translations to set you off on a path that hints at a connection? Scorpion has a Greek root ('Skorpio'), which is probably a bit too on-the-nose, but 'Red' translates as 'Kokkino', which might suggest a name. Chaplain Kokkinios has quite a cool ring to it? On a similar wandering, perhaps Chaplain Tsimpimos ('Sting'), or Dankanos ('Claw')? Alternatively, you could look at the scientific names for Scorpions, which'll turn up some cool names like Chaerilid, Iuridan, Vaejovidos and Bothriurid.
