BLACK BLΠFLY

I wish that the box had MkII marines instead of MkIII marines. Because who wouldn't like to have their favorite armor mark in plastic? I don't really care for the Sisters of Silence, but the Custodes are really cool! The Space Wolf character looks pretty nice, but I'm kind of diasppointed they actually used the real Ahriman instead of someone else. I'm further still disappointed they didn't make the characters into generics like the Betrayal at Calth was, unless their sprue has a generic swap on it? The tartaros is cool, and I think that the sergeant might actually be holding a volkite charger, which is awesome!

I think I'll maybe buy it even if I can't think of a way to use the SoS, and until we have rules for how the Custodes ally chart will I don't know who will be able to take them as an allied detachment, the Tartaros is pretty neat, but I just don't like how it looks. It's like MkIV armor decided to skip out on it's diet and the poor machine spirit thought that was a good idea for extra protection! The characters are cool, and I'm going to hope that they have a generic swap sprue, the MkIII is awesome, as it's my second favorite armor mark, but I have the the most expensive idea to make an all-MkII army. After having totaled up how much that actually would be, however, I'll likely just buy a couple of these boxes and 10 more MkIII marines for a total of 40. Or maybe use them to start up another MkIII heavy army like Death Guard while I wait for plastic MkII.

I think that this box will be great for anyone who wants to collect MkIII marines, as well as Tartaros terminator armor, and the Custodes or the SoS! I hope everyone who gets the box will be happy with it, as it's contents look great!

But if someone could point out some rumours for plastic MkII, that would be greatly appreciated!

And FW would be extra silly if they don't release a "Breacher upgrade" set for those plastic MkIII vets. Just need resin shields and heads, and they're already basically doing that with that Ultramarines power sword/breacher shield set that's coming out soon!

That's all that's keeping me from ordering a set of shapeways 3d-printed boarding shield to load onto ten of these mkIII marines. Hopefully they'll include some of those sallet-style helms, our own frater have shown how proper grimly norse they look when applied right.

As someone up above mentioned, if this makes Mk3 armor available in plastic it wouldn't surprise me if Forge World already has plans in place to release "Breacher upgrade sets" as well as assault upgrade sets.  Practically an excuse to print money.

Yeah I have to say I'm really not that excited for this new release. New marks and variants of armor is nice, but it would have been a whole lot nicer to get a bigger variety of plastic infantry choices. Assault marines in particular was what I was hoping for. Plus while the characters are really great sculpts, there are pretty clearly made just for SW and Tsons, would have been nice if they were more adoptable for any legion like the BaC characters.

Hopefully they'll include some of those sallet-style helms, our own frater have shown how proper grimly norse they look when applied right.

You mean like the ones on Sisters of Battle PA or on the Skitarii vanguard minis?

Are the sisters planned as an army or will their squads be like Agents of the Emperor?

I would love some psychic protection after facing a bunch of Libbynaughts.

If I recall correctly, people who attended the open day said Custodes would be a full army but Sisters would be Agents of the Emperor.

We know that the Custodes fought for Horus (unbeknownst) on Prospero, I wonder if there will be a rule for traitors to be able to use them ? My to paint list is getting bigger.

Edit: Just watched the video...that is some good stuff.  My hate of the wolves and the emperor are at an all time high !!

I dont know about you guys, but after seeing the video on warhammertv pop up in my subs unexpectedly I did a massive happy dance!

And I was just about to make a big forgeworld order for my wolves to compliment this set, looks like ill have about a companies worth of astartes now!

I rather doubt it, as you said they didn't know Horus had gone traitor yet, so they thought they were still fighting for the same side. Considering the custodes are the emperor's personal guard I don't see how they would have traitor rules.

Oops, no, got my helmets mixed up. I was thinking of the helmets on the breachers, with the pronounced rim around the crown, whatever they're called. SoB and vanguard are indeed closer to sallet helms.

I watched that gif for way too long....

There'd be nothing stopping you use them for Great Crusade armies or using a loyalist force from one of the Traitor Legions.

I'm using the box for Iron Warriors but if I get a hankering to use Custodes or Sisters, they will suddenly become loyalist Iron Warriors.
