BLACK BLΠFLY

Oops, no, got my helmets mixed up. I was thinking of the helmets on the breachers, with the pronounced rim around the crown, whatever they're called. SoB and vanguard are indeed closer to sallet helms.

Ah okay :) Yeah, those are rather awesome - though I still prefer the version with breaths :p

Incase some haven't seen, and why would you not? You should keep a tab open for the thread in the news and rumours section you naughty frater!

So, the Burning of Prospero boxed set has been confirmed... anyone got ideas for the rules for Custodes and Sisters of Silence? I guess the Sisters would have some anti-psyker mechanic, and the the Custodes would be uber-marines with unique wargear. IIRC, the 30k+40k rules are included with the set for people who pre-ordered it.

The stats were originally from 4chan so add salt. Plenty of salt.

That being said, they weren't unreasonable.

Edit: here they are...

From 4chan:According to a mate, these are the profiles for custodes and sisters:Custodes:ws6, bs4, s5, t5, w2, i5, a3, ld10, 2+/4++.hatred, furious charge, rampage.Sisters:ws5, bs4, s3, t3, w1, i5, a2, ld10, 2+.Preferred enemy (psykers), hatred (psykers)furious charge and a pariah blade which inflicts ID on any model with the psyker special rule and otherwise is ap3. they will have the pariah rule meaning they can never be the target of any psychic power. and all psychic powers cease to be in effect within 6" of the unit

Both seem slightly optimistic to me.  Custodes especially would need to cost a lot of points to not be broken with those stats.  Also it doesn't make sense to me that unagmented humans (which as far as I am aware sisters of silence are) have better WS and I than space marine veterans, their named characters sure but not random SoS #387.

It is from 4chan. Personally, I don't have any confidence in its authenticity.

I fully expect Custodes to be very expensive in points, whether those are correct rules or not. I imagine it's the only way they will be able to balance them. The above rules don't seem too far-fetched though.

The Sisters rules seem less likely. As you say - Space Marines are genetically augmented super soldiers who have lived through decades and even centuries of war. They should have a higher general statline than Sisters.

I do, however, think Sisters will have some sweet equipment and special rules to let them go toe-to-toe with the Astartes.

Only a few weeks before we find out. :)

To be fair, I don't think WS5 Sisters of Silence is too much of a big deal. Firstly, I would've thought the SoS would recieve low-level enhancement (similar to assassins or Inquisitors) to make the most of their rare talent. Secondly, as their 'null-zone' only works in close proximity to them, it would make sense for them to be highly trained in assault. Given the small size of their organisation - certainly compared to the Legions - it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to give them the best training available.

I love everything in the box! The Custodes are a bit chunkier than I imagined them, but they still look great.

I'm most excited about the Tartaros armour. It might be time to start that Alpha Legion assassination force that I've been planing for a while ;)

I actually agree with you but I still think that puts them at around WS4. It's not going to bother me if they are, just doesn't fit my interpretation of the fluff and seems a bit wish-listy.

They're going to be a really interesting force and I'd like them to be very different to play than Astartes. Same with Custodes.

I don't like neither the Custodes models nor the girls.

Both look like Fantasy models although I will wait until I have seen a Custodes by myself. But the sisters look like Dark Elves with stupid armour. Noone would build and wear an armour with boobs on it. ;)

Doesn't matter. I love the box for the good stuff and will sell the crappy.

When you are a traitor, but want the Sisters of Silence:

Which is why I am going with Alpha Legion, I'm pretty sure I can loosely justify them as Alpha Legion aiding a force of Sisters or Custodes when fighting a traitor Legion. :D

For the battle you want to use them in and your opponent is a traitor legion player just say your guys are loyalists and are coming to their aid. ;)

What you have to remember though is that you are not talking about a modern military army here. Just look at the depictions of Ancient Greek armour with the pronounced pectorals and abdominal muscles so that they look almost bare chested. Just because they are women doesn't mean that they can't carry the same aesthetic, it all boils down to what is accepted as cultural norms.

Well, I'm planning to have my Sons of Horus army set at the Siege of Terra, with CSM parts spread throughout the army. So it's a no go.

Without boob armor how would we know they are girls?

Simple. You put little bows in their hair.

Cartoon logic.

I would say the pony tails cover that but with the man bun craze and girls shaving half their heads these days that doesn't even work now :D

Depends on the context of the game and your opponent really. If you really wanted to and had someone say using World Eaters you could explain it away as both the Custodes and the Sons of Horus happen to in the same part of the palace when the WE wig out and go kill crazy. If you had a Thousand Sons player you could use it to create a scenario where the SoH suddenly realise they would be better off aiding the Custodes to stop the TS completing a ritual that is about to seriously screw up Horus' plans. Just use the By the Warmaster's Command allies rule.

It's all down to what you want to do and how you want to justify it even if it is just for one game.
