Darkn3ssF4lls
Is there a good resource to know what weapons look like ? Basically I want to organize box by plasma (check) heavy flamer etc. I don't know the difference in flamers for example, or what a combi flamer attachment looks like etc. I'm guessing a bits site photo gallery would be the best resource ? Major_Gilbear
Google image search...? Although there are some common designs, there's a lot of variations on each weapon style too. Using heavy flamers as an example, the Imperial Guard version looks reasonably different from the Space Marine version. Given how many special weapons you typically get in most kits, would it not be more logical to separate the spare weapons something alobg the lines of: - Bolters - Bolt pistols - Other pistols - Special weapons - Heavy weapons - Chainswords - Other melee weapons Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326929-what-things-look-like/#findComment-4534253 Share on other sites
Quixus
As an alternative to google you can use one of the many bits sites. Most have all the bits already conveniently separated by the box they came from and named appropriately. Major_Gilbear
@ Quixus: Speaking from experience, I find that those bits-sites photos are often the most common when conducting a Google image search! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326929-what-things-look-like/#findComment-4534521 Share on other sites
Darkn3ssF4lls
Hmm ok, just got so many bits in just these three boxes! haha don't know what half of it is. Assume most is just stuff to add to make them look different then the person next to you. Whats the difference @Major_Gilbear between a special and heavy weapon ? Major_Gilbear
Size and availability mostly. For example, a Tactical squad can have a Plasma Cannon (a heavy weapon) and/or a Plasma Gun (a special weapon), but not two of one type or the other. Plasma cannon: http://megabitzshop.com/bilder/produkte/gross/Space-Marine-Devastortrupp-Plasmakanone.jpg Plasma gun: http://megabitzshop.com/bilder/produkte/gross/Warhammer-40k-Bitz-Space-Marines-Kommandotrupp-Plasmawerfer.jpg You can see the size difference, and you can also see that even though the designs are different, they all have features common across all Imperial plasma weapons: - Slit vents in the muzzle shroud - Plasma containment coils - Plasma ammunition flasks over and under the weapon Other weapons, particularly Imperial ones, all have similar design elements in a similar manner, and GW does this to help make identification easier despite different types or styles of weapon class.
