Trevak Dal
So I was wondering if there had been any attempts to carve down the berserker arms and resculpt them into...not Harambe hands. I got some csm arm bits on order, but I was wondering about the 60 some pairs I'm replacing. Hrolf the Cunning
Resculpting that many hands is going to be a pretty epic endeavor... is it feasible for you to just get chainsword and bolt pistol arms from the chaos marine sprue? ShinyRhino
Is it the gauntlets that you're thinking of removing? If so, I don't think it's worth your time. The whole kit is ancient and awful. apologist
You might try trimming off the hands entirely and using this upgrade kit from Forge World. Not cheap, but would look great :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326951-carving-down-berserker-arms/#findComment-4535659 Share on other sites
Major_Gilbear
I'm sorry, but "trimming/carving down Harambe hands/arms" is not especially descriptive of what exactly you're after I'm afraid. If you can explain a bit better (is it the limb length, the hand size, the gloves, etc that offends you?), I'm sure you'll get better/more useful suggestions. Otherwise, my thoughts were much like Apologist's - just cut hands off and add weapons with new hands already sculpted onto them. Failing that, pinch arms from the Assault Squad and/or Vanguard Vets/Death Company and transplant the old plastic Berserker weapons back onto them. Or use bare arms from the AoS Bloodreaver kit - lots of bits sites have the single-hand weapons arms available (as many people want the double-handed axes/arms instead), and these weapons feature lots of Khorne runes and such on them. Trevak Dal
Yeah the glove itself is the offending bit. Its super big (like they are wearing gloves over their power armor) and i was wanting to trim it up so that the back end of the glove (where you stick your hand in) isn't as appearant and looks more like a gauntlet. Major_Gilbear
In that case, I think your time and money is honestly better spent on just getting new arms from another CSM/SM kit and adding back the Berserker weapons as appropriate. Carving down the gloves and then trying to reduce the massive and awkward-looking fists is a huge amount of work that is likely to look rather bodged. Many bits sites sell SM and CSM arms of various types, and I think that's probably the easier route all-round. A totally different route to consider might be to start with a kit like the Death Company or the SM Assault Squad and then add some Chaos/Khorne parts and/or weapons to suit. You'd end up with a "nicer" kit to work with then as well. Trevak Dal
Yeah truly if I had it to do over again, I'd like Deathcompany with black Templar bolt pistols and chain swords. Ive ordered about 30 pairs of arms so far...but I need another 35 or so pairs and the bits shops on eBay seem to be out of csm arms (not that I'm opposed to using other arms...its just csm arms are far cheaper and can be ordered in higher quantities, and you got some gaugers selling only left arms or only right arms.) oldschoolsavant
I'm assuming you're actually making Berzerkers ? The Death Company comment threw me...... If you are, have you considered a 'shattered' look (as I term it) with a mix of bare arms, WFB arms, different armour marks ? Currently making some myself, with a selection from Mk3/5/6, Marauder arms, AoS arms/torsos, Chaos Knight/Skullcrusher arms, Deathwatch hammers into giant chainaxes etc. Oh, and top knots and mohawks from the Deathmasque Harlequins. I rationalise it as everything they have being scavenged, with my Lord unwilling to sacrifice decent kit on the lunatics usually chained up in the ship's hold..... I think every CSM player has those arms (sans chainaxes) relegated to a dusty, hidden bits bag somewhere. Trevak Dal
Yeah I'm actually making Berserkers, and I'm very against the bare arm look. oldschoolsavant
Well, in that case I'd aim for both the DA Black Knight sprues, and Vanguard Vets. The former has a selection of clubs, picks and other melee weapons, and the thunder hammer hands from the latter can have the hammerheads chopped off, and replaced with the chainaxes from the 'bad' hands. Couple of solutions I'm using anyways. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326951-carving-down-berserker-arms/#findComment-4538142 Share on other sites
Lucio
Buy a couple of boxes of Chaos Space Marines, take the bolt pistols and chainswords from those kits and then either assemble and sell the completed marines to recoup some od rhe costs (or ya know use them in your army) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/326951-carving-down-berserker-arms/#findComment-4540416 Share on other sites
