77th Solar Auxilia Cohort "The Lost Battalon"

My army is a mostly proxy force, with some modification. I'm using Kasrkin as my Veletarii which make up most of my force. I will be using my regular cadians as my lasrifle section. I plan to add some backpacks to my cadians to make them look more like Solar Auxilia Troopers.

I like the Cadian aesthetic, and I have a bunch of them, so I wanted to make use of them. My Lasgun Kasrkin have begun modification to look like volkite chargers.

Is there some fluff that i might need to use to explain their non-standard equipment? I'm wanting this force to feel heavily influenced, fluff wise anyway, by the "Lost Battalion" from the 77th Division.

I have tanks (Leman Russ, I'll have 5 very soon, 3 battle tank variants, and 2 Siege Tank variants), but no Dracosans, and I plan to use the Master of Ambush trait to infiltrate my volkite squads, while I have a lasrifle section and a rotor cannon veletarii section for ranged support. This will be backed up by 3 Knights and 2 Thunderbolts.

What do you think?

Far from their land as they made their stand! Great now that will be in my head all day :D I don't think you need to do much to explain their different aesthetics - the Crusade was massive and I'm sure some planets would have modelled their own armies on the Solar Auxilia template.

Great. I also wanted my Solar Auxilia to tie into my Imperial Guard fluff, being lost on a world that they then settled on. Becoming the foundation for my imperial guard regiment.

By the way, that's an awesome song to have stuck in your head.

I'm going to be using the master of ambush warlord trait to get my Veletarii in position to do work, since I don't have transports for them. The Big question is what should I use to transport them if at all. I want to get a Shadowsword for my command section and Lord Marshal to ride in. I really like the Dracosan, but it's nearly a $100 model, and I'd need 3.
