MikhalLeNoir
Hey ho., just a question. As I started painting Raktra the Ashking, i wanted to know if anybody has an Idea to create an effect as if arms face and hair was coated with white ash. http://assets.survivalinternational.org/pictures/1103/eth-ham-mr-02_screen.jpg My testmini looks not cool it looks as if I can't paint and so maybe some of you has a few ideas? And of course blood is over it and washes it partially away Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327044-painting-white-ash-effect/ Share on other sites
Atia
I actually would be interested in this too - but with blue. For ... reasons. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327044-painting-white-ash-effect/#findComment-4537963 Share on other sites
CommodusXIII
For my ash bases, I simply add a moderate drybrush of grey after painting it "clean". That would probably work for a model, perhaps with both a dark and light grey. Major_Gilbear
If you've ever mixed a little blue-grey into a flesh colour for painting stubble on a models face/head, then I imagine you could acheive something similar by adding a little light grey instead. So use a little light grey mixed into the flesh, then "wash" some thinned light grey very thinly over it afterwards - add a little matte medium to this thinned grey wash, and don't worry if it goes on a little streaky. Midwest
Forgeworld has a "Bone Dust" weathering powder - would it be possible to apply this or a similar weathering pigment "dry" as a way of mimicking the grainy texture of ash-based warpaint? Dagoth Ur
I'll upload some pics later, but here is how I do it: Use FW Bone Dust pigment, mix it with alcohol and then paint it on your miniature, just like you would do with any tattoo or warpaint. Dab it off just slightly and seal it after drying.
