WOW. That's an immediate game changer...

The plans for my second Heresy army are now in disarray.... good thing I play IF and can easily ally them in!

Book 7 can't come quick enough!!

How exactly are these guys ever going to make it across the field? The shield guys seem alright, but contrary to what FW might think Sniper, Plasma & Melta blobs, as well as half the Mechanicum armoury, are a thing. Adding at least ~50pts for any likely transport just to ferry a unit that isn't that much better than a Terminator squad across the board seems bordering on ridiculous.

And as for that floating...'thing':

I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. They seem a bit meh at the moment.

I think we'll need to see the whole picture, but they'll suffice I recon.

S6 AP2 on the charge generating additonal hits is nice, but the 2A stat is... Lacking.

As is the fact the blurb says they are faster but they are base initiative 4...

I think that is really it. They would seem a lot better with the extra attack and initiative or even just one or the other.

They do have the special rule giving +1 Initiative when they have higher WS.

"Equal to or greater than the majority WS of the enemy." Means they are I5 against any unit of WS5 or less, even if there is a WS6 character in there. Plus extra attacks on 6s if they use their spears. I think they look nasty enough, but not an auto-include, which is pretty perfect IMO.

I think WS6 like the 40k versions would have been nice instead of BS5. And the extra step of initiative.

But then these guys would really be stepping on Preator level characters.

Only the captain is WS6 in the 40k rules.

I mean, unless they charge a solo WS6+ character (ws6 units are pretty rare) or get their WS reduced, theyre pretty much always going to be I5.

Otherwise, I find it exceedingly hilarious that 30k Guardian Spears let you shoot and charge whereas 40k ones dont.

The fact that theyre all characters and have no sergeants also helps push the idea that these are individual warriors fighting together rather than a Unit.

That 3" coherency is also pretty nifty at making them extra hard to get nipped by Template weapons.

I wish they'd used the Chosen Warriors rule rather than making them all full characters. They have the rule there to let Custodes get into challenges, but avoid all the wound shifting shenanigans that come with all character units, why not use it?

9 months after mr sicaran went to bed with miss jetbike he learned that he had a son.

What would mrs sicaran say!

She's going back to her maiden name of Venator!

Funny you should say this, the first thing that popped into my head when I saw that tank is "this is the inevitable result of all those sicarans censored.gif all those skimmers".

Those 30K rules are perfect. Tough but not out-of-balance tough, they're threatening but they're killable. I love it.

40K rules weren't doing it for me, 30K are brilliant.

My Iron Warriors might be Loyalists after all. :)

These rules are a LOT more balanced than the 40k ones (like most 30k stuff, actually). happy.png It'll be good to see the SoS's rules, as I'm interested to see if they really keep AP2 at iniative for the Sisters' swords. Also, the Custodes+SoS list is gonna have to have a few HQ's, right? Hopefully we'll get some decent/fluffy rules for Valdor (he beat Horus in a duel!) and some Custodes/Sisters HQ's...

Dunno what to expect with the Talons of the Emperor list, really.

Oh, and that floaty deodorant stick looks HIDEOUS, imho. pinch.gif down.gif yucky.gif

That Valdor beat Horus thing isn't really a thing. Nobody knows where it came from, there's no source.

That being said, I want him in the character series and I want him to make Primarchs sweat.

I'm not 100% that he will though. If the Emperor is to the Custodes what the Primarchs are to Space Marines, then where does Valdor fit? He'd be like a Custodian version of a Praetor, I guess. He's the best at what he does, but he's still "just" a Custodian.
