In preparation I've just sold my Alpha Legion, and with the proceeds, ordered two betrayal at Calth sets (gotta have a stockpile) and three Prospero. As for actual plans... Still undecided about the custodes and sisters, but I think I'll have enough (alongside the pre existing stockpile) for: A redux of my Alpha Legion, my long planned World Eater drop army (fluff be damned, I'm having assault marine mk3 armour!), And then either a Night Lords, or Blood Angel force. Still undecided. Oh and Ahriman is getting the knights errant treatment methinks. Too nice a model to not own in some capacity. So... I realise I may be a bit on the obsessive side, but what are other folks plans? Breacher shields curtesy of ML Shields. If... (Big if...) the Guardian Squad rules are similar to those seen in 40K I'll use them to anchor my SG line with their fearless bubble. Next 10 I'd do up as some weapons master vets (gonna attempt to trade arms with people/repose/grab the mk 3 weapons set from fw) and an apothecary for them Final 10 I was thinking sniper flamer vets. The characters I'd do for my shelf, and put ahriman next to his old metal self. Probably do a knight errant librarian with Ahriman and see if I can convert the wolf into a Salamander centurion. Once I have rough idea what 30k custodes and sisters look like those squads will be built accordingly. Iron Hands Fanatic Posted October 22, 2016 Share Posted October 22, 2016 Long term plan is to combine the 30 MkIII with 3 sets of FW's Iron Hands squad and a single set of Medusan Immortals. They'll form a Tactical Phalanx of two 20-strong Tactical Squads and a single 10-man support squad, with the Immortals being used to represent artificer armour on the sergeants, and the FW bits distributed among the squads, as well as a touch of converting the plastic bits (i.e carving the pad trims so they have the same cog-toothed shape as the FW ones, and cutting out sections of the chest plate to reveal guitar wire below - emulating this). The Sisters of Silence will accompany a Knight Errant I have plans on converting, but I'm not sure about the Custodes - they'll never fit in with the force I intend to build, but they could make some cool looking ruined statues? Character-wise, Ahriman is getting turned into a Raven Guard techmarine, and Geigor is going to be combined with some B@C stuff to turn him into an Imperial Fists captain. I'll be converting up the Tartaros to mark them out as of the Iron Tenth, and they'll be set aside for use in a Heavy Assault Phalanx / Cohort at some point. I will use the new Burning of Prospero for my VIth legion and then use my largely unbuilt BAC box to build a comparable Thousand Sons force to give Ahriman some pals. Tartaros Termis. Sisters, Custodes and Characters will all be kept and painted but just for fun. I don't see myself using them for games. I've also been sitting on a contemptor, the praetor and the Cataphractii (hello Tyrant Siege Terminators!) from my second B@C box. Custodes. I was originally going to get rid of them, but I have to recognize the fact that assembling official Custodes models, complete with guardian spears, has been a hobby dream of mine for over 20 years. They'll be veterans of Gyros-Thravian, attached to my Sons of Horus to remind them of their failure. Sisters - I have no idea. Legionnaire of the VIIth Posted October 22, 2016 Share Posted October 22, 2016 I'm going to use the Burning of Propsero to begin a Thousand Sons Legion First Fellowship. Of the first set (as I have only currently bought the one but plan on a second box and a Battle of Calth box down the road) the 30 Mk III will be made into tactical squads, and be part of the Second Company of the First Fellowship, I won't give them the scarab but will instead have the cult symbols on one of their shoulders. The Tartaros Tactical Dreadnoughts will become the beginning of the First Company of the First Fellowship, they will get the Scarab. Ahriman will stay as he is but the Space Wolf will be cut up and made into terrain with panes of glass having separated parts of his body with him partly sunk into the ground. I'll be keeping the Custodes and Sisters for myself I hope that the Custodes get more fleshed out, as an army, in the future. I do want to see that. Very curious as to how you'll go about this idea. For Ahriman, the main thing is probably going to be filling in and trimming away as much of the Ksons / sorceror detail to get him as plain looking as possible, then adding a few new details over the top. I'll use the missile launcher backpack from B@C so I can stick a servo-arm on the missing exhaust, and I'll have to find a suitable power axe to pin in place of his staff, as well as an appropriate head to swap out. I'm thinking of putting a bolter in his outstretched hand, but the hardest part will probably be turning the hanging strips of cloth into mechadendrites - I foresee a lot of carving & filing. Similar procedure with Geigor - shaving away most of the extra trims, but I'm okay with keeping the pelts. I'm gonna try and exchange the upraised leg with a foreleg from a B@C marine to give him more static pose, and I'm tempted to convert one of the Sisters' greatswords into a power weapon. His crozius gets a head-swap with a thunder hammer, and I'll be using him as either a Delegatus or a Praetor as the mood strikes me. For the time being, I'll be running him as a Delegatus, and using Chosen Duty. The Cataphractii dude becomes my Siege Breaker, and will tag along with the Siege Tyrants. I'm planning on going with 2 x 10 man squads of Breachers... for the remaining 10, I really want a Lascannon Heavy Support Squad, but I absolutely despise the underslung Lascannons FW sells and I'm not sure how I'd be able to use the shoulder mounted pieces with the plastic Marines. I have a Sniper Veteran squad planned, but I really REALLY need anti-tank. Maybe I'll just suck it up and get the underslung... gods, they look so stupid though. As far as the Tartaros, I think I'm going to equip them with Combi-Weapons, Power / Chain Fists and Heavy Flamers. I'd go all Lightning Claws, but I already did that with my Cataphractii and I figure it'd be just as good to use these guys to run up and punch holes / Combi-Plasma things to death. I do plan on using the Sisters of Silence and Custodes... for now I'll simply paint them up and await their rules to see if I actually want to start an army. As for Ahriman, I will paint him up for the hell of it, and as for the Wolf... he'll make a glorious corpse on a base. Sorry, I loathe the VIth. Edit: Huzzah, a solution! Soldier of Dorn Posted October 23, 2016 Share Posted October 23, 2016 Ordered a few boxes myself... might have gone a little overboard. :sweat: The stuff inside will be combined with what remains of my Calth boxes and divided up among three projects: First off, of course will be my Imperial Fists. I need to build a couple more 20-man Tactical Sections and would like them to be in a mix of armor, ranging from MKIII to MKIV and what's in the standard 40k Tactical Squad: they're set at the Siege of Terra, so really I'm fine with anything except MK8 armor (which I might be able to write off as artificier-MKVII for a sergeant anyways... yeah.) They'll also get the Terminators from my boxes, along with a few Custodes and the Sisters of Silence. Any additional Custodes will either be traded off or used as bits. Secondly, I've been planning out a small Iron Warriors force to basically serve as a display antagonist to my Imperial Fists. Probably going to go mounted cav with these ones, so Vets in Rhinos and Land Raiders and Cataphractii Terminators in a Land Raider/Spartan... I dunno yet. I'll probably start building models and see what list forms from that. Lastly, I've got a top-secret project that I'm still in the process of sorting out. Suffice to say, when it hits, it's gonna be legend-wait for it-dary (and quite heretical... :P) But yeah, those are my plans... I'll need two veteran units, seeker unit, plasmagun support unit and a Volkite heavy support, either a big Tartaros unit or two smaller ones. If people feel the need to "pre trade" the heresy trading page on Facebook has you covered. I shan't provide links coz that's naughty but it's the best one about as far as I see. A bunch of us from here use it every so often, can't fault it. There's also a +/- system in place to rate traders.
