Plans for Prospero?

The Custodes will be joining my White Scars, as there is some fluff precedent due to the blood games on Terra for the legion and Custodes getting along quite well.

The sisters (for the time) shall be shelved.....saved for....the future... I have Garro as well, so i may end up building them and shelving the, for the time with him.

Never read about interaction between Scars and Custodes...

...but who wouldn't like those loveable Space Mongols

Made a small mistake with my first plastic MkIII tactical squad. Decided to give my sgt a ccw and was impressed by the Thunderhammer. Assembled the model then checked the army list entry a hour latter to find tactical sgts can't take thunderhammers sad.png

I can either remove the arm and give him a powerfist or put him to one side as a possible vet squad leader

Would it totally go against WYSIWYG to have it as a 'power hammer'?

I would have no issues calling it a power maul.

Leave him as is and explain to people he's a counts as powerfist? I wouldn't mind, if anyone forgets what it's meant to be they'll still treat him as a TH guy, pretty much the same.

Anyone got any pics of conversions up yet? Like they did with Calth?

I don't know if this is the right place to ask for advice on this but I guess I'll try.

I've got a BoC and a BoP box. My original plan with the BoC PA guys box was to assemble them as legion veterans to run on a Pride of the Legion list. One with 2xHB, one with 2xML, one with 2xPG or 2xMG.

Thing is, now that I have 6 sprues I have a bigger weapons sample to choose from. To be concrete, 60 bodies (30 MK3, 30 MK4), 6xHB, 3xML, 6xPG,MG,Flamer. I had two plans

a ) 3x Veteran units of 10 guys with Artificier armoured veteran sergeant and 2 heavy bolters (using the MK3 pattern), a 10 guys (mk4) unit with 2xML, and using the last 20 MK4 to assemble 6xPG, 6xMG, 6xFlamer to be used as Auxilia units.

b ) 3x Veteran units of 10 guys with Artificier armoured veteran sergeant and 2 PG (using the MK3 pattern), a 10 guys (mk4) unit with 2xML, and using the last 20 MK4 to assemble 6xHBand assorted marines to be used as the devastator equivalent support unit, and 6xMG and 6x Flamer for Auxilias.

The question is: Is it better to load the heavy weapons on the veteran units and using the special weapons for support units, or vice versa? The second option is more 40k-sensible (as CSM units can load 2 special weapons but not 2 heavy weapons) I guess. Having two different MK patterns makes it harder to just mix marines as needed to configure the units.

What is your oppinion on that?

Legion choice heavily affects Veteran loadout, imo.

For example, World Eaters do great work with close combat vets. Salamanders get +1S flamers and melta guns (Under CoF with Machine Killers). Dank Angels get cool heavy bolter shells. Imperial fists get +1BS on heavy bolters. Blood Angels get +1 to wound so lots of power weapons suit them. Some Legions do "plain" better, in that they can do it all well without a strong preference for one weapon.

They are super flexible, quite cheap and rock your socks with cool kitbash potential.

I have evaluated my current stock of Heresy and have determined to plump out my Salamanders completely:

2x 10 Mk3 Tacticals. Warden with combi-weapon and fist or hammer.

1x 10 Mk4 Veterans with dual flamers/meltas (hoping to get them swappeable). Veteran Warden with MC Hammer and inferno pistol.

1x 10 Mk3 Assault Veterans/Pyre Guard with a plethora of random wargear. They will serve three ways: To be pick n mixed with the Mk4 Veterans for flexibility, a 40K Kill Team and a command squad for Vulkan/Legion Praetors.

Terminators I am at a loss. Tartaros do not sit well with Salamanders, so I may add them to my Eaters of Worlds for sweeping lulz.

I fancy I will add the Sisters with bolters/flamers so I can deny psykers in 40k games.

Custodians get spears cos rule of cool.

I think, now that I have the set in front of me, I'm probably going to build 20 vanilla Tacticals and pick up some plasma guns and combi-weapons to build the others as a plasma support squad and floating models (combi-plasma/melta and meltaguns) for Veteran Tactical Squads. That way I'll have a total of 40 Tactical Marines at my disposal, including what I already own, and can sub in the special weapons to field them as other units.

Can anyone speak to how it's worth kitting out Tartaros Terminators? I already have 10 Cataphractii with power/chainfists and 10 Tyrant Siege Terminators, so I'd been thinking about perhaps giving them some lightning claws or combi-plasmas and a plasma blaster.

It's going to sit in The Great Gaming Cupboard until the mystical day when I finish painting my:

Cryx

Legion of Everblight

Skorne

DFC - Scourge, Shaltrai

Tyranids

Dark Eldar

(Hopefully) plastic Sisters of Battle

...and on that great and far off day....

I plan to use it and BaC as the core of a dual purpose 30k Legion / 40k successor Chapter.

Possibly White Scars for the humour and moustaches. Or Dark Angels for the robes.

I pity you. Those were my armies until I sold them for Cephalyx.
