Special Weapon vs Special Weapon

Hopefully this works. Trying to load these images from my iPad.

*Edit* Fixed the images.

As you can see the new models are slightly taller, about a head taller.

But the other dimensions are about the same, as the SOS models don't appear bulky, just taller.

It appears to be a similar change that has been happening with the marines.

Thanks Dante, I appreciate the complement.

The Order of the Gossamer Shroud, a Hospitalor minor order under the Order of the Valorous Heart.

Previously assigned to the ill-fated St. Josmane's Hope prison world, Cadian Sector.

Canoness Desa and a small contingent of her order were aboard what is believed to be the only ship that made it off world before the Chaos blockade had been formed.

Currently stationed aboard Stargazer's Revenge, under the command of Inq Devinshire.

The height increase is expected.

I hope that SOB are a little broader, especially across the shoulders, to fit with them wearing power armour.

The SOS silhouette is more slender than the SOB I think/hope.

Although I don't know if the SOS wear PA.

Thank you for the comparison shot.

SoS are in power armor as well.

I don't see anything about their armor in the datasheets but they do have a 3+.

I also don't have a problem if the rumored new line of Sisters will be slightly taller. Adds some variety to our roughly less than 20 poses. :P

32mm bases though. Hmm.

I just cracked open my BoP box.

According to the rules in there Sisters of Silence do indeed wear Power Armour.

I am curious as to the bareness of some the SOS armour. I was expecting a lot of detailing. I wonder - and this is wild speculation - if the plastic sisters of battle will share the same CAD designs but with more Holy Bing.

Can't beat dat Ecclesiarchal bling! :P Got to spend those tithes somehow.

Frankly the SoS models seem too slender at some spots to represent power armor, or much of any armor really. Mind you they look nice overall.

Same issue a lot of the Sisters models have (again, I will not stop referring to Sisters of Battle as Sisters :P)

but yeah, the SoS is taller than the Sister, but her ankle is thinner!

Now that you've brought it up, it does look weird that the SoS model is a whole head taller than that Canonness, but has more slender ankles.

Just a tiny correction.  That isn't a Canonness.  That is a Sister Superior.  I used the 1 flame backpack for my Canonness and the 2 flame backpack for my Sister Superiors.

Ah, I saw the backplack and didn't bother to notice that the model is clearly a Sister Superior sculpt :P Sorry :)

The models are true to the old images (where they had carapace armour).

IMO the best representations of Sororitas armour are in the witch hunter book where you can see the bulk to it. Though strictly speaking it doesn't need to be any more than the armour plate and a minimal powered exoskeleton, compared to the astartes stuff it doesn't cover over the extensive strength-enhancing fibre-muscles and supporting framework and heavy cabling, void sealing, life support, etc.

I can't be sure, but looking closely at the pictures it looks like the base for the SoS is slightly taller than the base for the SoB.  This could explain why they look taller.

25mm bases are shorter than all the rest, yes. I just measured against 5-6 different base types

Also on a slightly unrelated note.. if anyone else out there can't leave a model as is and isn't a fan of the top knots that Sisters of Silence have, you can clip it off and adjust it to a 45 degree or lower angle and suddenly it's a ponytail instead. I just did that to all 5 of mine and I feel it looks nicer.

I haven't seen the models in person yet, but I kinda like the top nits. It's very 80s (i think) just like the rest of 40k :P

I don't like the top knots myself. I wish they had full helmets, the mask looks nice but it'd be even nicer if it extended into a full helmet as an option. One of the heads has the mask extend upward to cover the face, but not the sides or the back of the head. A shame. By contrast I dislike the helmets of the Custodians as well as those of Mark III marines :P

I agree, I'll probably swap out the heads for SOB heads when they finally release both the SOS and SOB models.

I added little bits of green stuff to cover up and over the forehead from the top of the mask. It gives a full-face visor look which I find looks nice with the ponytail conversions.
