Charlo
Reading this thread did take me on a mind journey that reminded me of Malcadors. Blood Angel Malcadors. With a Battle Cannon, Demolisher Cannon and three Assault Cannons. Aww yiss. Terminus
Baalcadors may indeed be an annoying thing, but it would be most annoying in Armoured Breakthrough that thankfully is not really an option for Blood Angels. Ishagu
I think the Heavy Support Malcador is pretty nasty. Quad Launchers are very point effective. Vets are the top troop choice, definitely. Vindicator Laser Destroyers are super effective for their points. The Stormsword is a nastier Typhon with a delicate posterior lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327538-harshest-units-in-the-la-army-lists/page/2/#findComment-4553912 Share on other sites
Gabriel Santar
Anything that throws out multiple/large blasts with high strength and low AP becomes grating to face very quickly. At least with things like Volkite there's the chance for saves. Scooping up the infantry you spent so long building and painting by the handful because of one Medusa or a couple of Phosphex Mortars quickly gets demoralising, and not everyone wants to run 40K-style 10 man squads in Rhinos. Memento Of Prospero
Triple Malcadors have yet to fail me in standard games. They just bring so much fire power and get in position very quickly. The command tank upgrade is just so damn good. Is that a flank? Not anymore it isn't Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327538-harshest-units-in-the-la-army-lists/page/2/#findComment-4554625 Share on other sites

Perry
Mortars are the ultimate crutch for an army. They can obliterate most vehicles and infantry in a turn. I ran a unit of three Mortars in my Night Lords Terror Assault army to make up for a lack of anti-tank and now I feel bad for using them against an average opponent. Bring them out for games against Beardie foes but not for average fun games Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327538-harshest-units-in-the-la-army-lists/page/2/#findComment-4554793 Share on other sites

Terminus
Just real pricy tank to buy, and as a much older sculpt the FW casts are pretty painful to work with. I'm really tempted to buy them from a recaster (there's one who repairs the FW pieces before recasting them in neoresin so they come out cleaner than FW), more for the ease of assembly than the 50% discount. Brofist
Worst thing about that old kit is that you don't get all the pieces in one place: Do you want track guards? Only available on the infernus Do you want a cool twin fuel tanks in the back? Only available on the defender Do you want a demolisher canon + battle cannon combo? Well sorry bro, the demolisher is only avalaible on the defender or annihilator Do you want side sponsons? Only on the infernus I'm afraid So if I want a battlecannon, demolisher cannon, track guards, side sponsons, and twin fuel tanks I need to buy 3 kits. Memento Of Prospero
Which Malcador variant do you use? Yeah, standard is the only one. My current loadout is expensive, but it reaps huge dividents. Battle cannon + Demolisher and lascannons is glorious. disease
Thing with the malc, is it just doesn't look astartes. I don't care how good it is, it's a guard tank in a legion. Been thinking of ways to convert a sicaran with a russ battle cannon and vindicator demolisher but no joy yet Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327538-harshest-units-in-the-la-army-lists/page/2/#findComment-4555543 Share on other sites

Been thinking of ways to convert a sicaran with a russ battle cannon and vindicator demolisher but no joy yet It's all about how you paint it I think. In the Great Crusade these babies would have been pretty widespread and common use in the legions until the more compact and easily created and maintained Rhino Chassis were available. I think it's one of the early books but it has the IH Malcador in it that just looks the tits. As for the differing parts accross the kits, that is an issue... I'm hoping FW will release an Astartes one soon with the main options available in one kit. If not i'll probably buy the demo ones and add some Battlecannons as that seems easiest! disease
I've done the malca-russ conversion on mine (leman russ vanquisher turret) so perhaps that is skewing my bias. anyway, back to tactics! Brofist
I want to give it a custom turret, but the russ turret seems a bit small. Maybe one from a stromhammer? DuskRaider
It's an ancient tank and the design is taken from WWI British vehicles. It looks just fine with Legionnaires, and would be quite numerous in campaigns far from supply routes, as it's easy to maintain (at the time), easy to upgrade, and if it gets destroyed it's not a big deal, there's Munitorum planets with underground facilities filled to the brim with these suckers (see Vraks). Slips
Two primarchs? You monster.Go apologize to all your opponent's immediately. Doesnt really matter since you and only ever field more than one Primarch (in a single army) in Apocalypse games. Doing so otherwise is kindve against the rules.
