Captain Titus' Shopping List

Hey there!

I own a very small force of Imperial Guard which hasnt been touched since 5th Edition when I left Warhammer 40k.

My current forces consist of:

1 Leman Russ Battle Tank

1 Leman Russ Punisher

1 Scout Sentinel

1 Valkyrie (rebuilding)

1 Company Command Squad

2 Infantry Squads

1 Heavy Weapons squad (2 mortars and 1 lascannon)

 

All of my force needs repainted, based or rebuilt.

 

I currently have a budget of £100 for my IG force but i could probably borrow from my Dark Angels fund.

My current wishlist is:

1 Cadian Shock troops with Cadian Infantry Respirators Upgrade - £18 +£22

1 Chimera - £22.50

1 Tempestus Scions - £21

Regimental Advisors - £10.75

 

For this shopping list, I want to ask for you, the IG community, to give me some advice for changes to the list.

My aim isn't to create a competitive list but rather a fun list.

The only thing that I won't change is the infantry with respirators and chimera because I plan on using them as a Veteran Squad and Chimera for Kill Team.

I believe the Genestealer bundle is cheaper than guardsmen and chimera boxes separately.

It also has some respirator heads, which is a nice bonus.

 

Also, unless you have a particular reason to buy from GW, you can stretch your budget by getting it from discounted suppliers.

I prefer to buy from GW because I know the quality of what I will be getting. Previous attempts to buy from Ebay have resulted in models covered in large blobs of glue or missing parts, but I can't complain as they were cheap. I personally feel safer purchasing from GW.

You can buy NEW from discount sellers... normally at 15 to 20% off retail... an example:

(I only chose cults to show the Militarum kit... not promote the Xenos scum ).

...but you have to watch postage.

However, if you choose to buy direct then at least you know who you are dealing with and peace of mind is something you can't put a price on

On the subject of the list, if you go for a Hybrid squad, you get a heavy weapon to go with your 10 Cadians for a very reasonable price.

I'd be tempted to swap those respirator heads on your list for another command squad for the last two infantry squads. It gives you the option of running two platoons :)

Element Game are my favourite and have been for a while - Wayland disappointed with delays and such a bit too often so they're in my bad books currently. Saves you money and you still get new kits, so an online reseller is always a good idea :) Your list is good, you can do with a few more troopers but if you're looking to expand your Stormtroopers to more than the five models I'd look at the Start Collecting box. Maybe it'd need to be postponed for your next shopping list, but if you want those models it's a good deal :)

Oops! I didn't realise that I had put 2 infantry squads down twice! I only have 2 squads not 4. I have only just realised my mistake.

Ok, so after thinking about the advice that you guys have given me. After thinking about the list I have decided to make some changes:

1 infantry squad

1 chimera

1 tempestus start collecting box

1 regimental advisors set

 

This adds up to just over £100 so I'll be able to cover the cost.

I will probably be able to get another £20 to add so I will probably get another command squad to use as a platoon command squad.

 

Also, I need some advice on painting:

What is a good colour to highlight castellan green with?

If youre getting the infantry squad and chimera get the genestealer box set. It has both and a GS sprue but cheaper.
