Elzender
So, siege breakers are able to take phosphex bombs, but there are not readily available bits for them, so I searched for some bits I might have to represent them. Here are the best three options I found, and I thought I could ask here to see which one you guys liked the most: http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w490/Risollano/phosphex20is20life_zpsh3aulrpf.jpg From left to right: a slightly trimmed IG canteen, a SM smoke launcher (the tubes look like smoke grenades, it would be a matter of separating them and model an activation system), and a bit from the DA veterans sprue (not quite sure what they are). So, which one do you think would be better to represent phosphex? Feel free to use them to represent other grenades (I'm looking at you, rad grenade-toting death guard traitors ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327618-modelling-phosphex-bombs/ Share on other sites
BLACK BLΠFLY
I like the canteen best. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327618-modelling-phosphex-bombs/#findComment-4555537 Share on other sites
Supe robot gangster #1
I personally like the DA bit. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327618-modelling-phosphex-bombs/#findComment-4555555 Share on other sites
marine7312000
Seconding the DA bit. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327618-modelling-phosphex-bombs/#findComment-4555573 Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
Personally, I'd be painting Melta Bombs red for Melta and yellow for Phosphex. I do red/green for krak/frag grenades. Soldier of Dorn
3rd one, the DA bit, comes closest to the only official depiction of rad grenades (the ones on the Legion Destroyers) IMHO. I have a sprue lying around somewhere, I can take a picture later if you'd like? Thanks, although I actually want to represent phosphex bombs, not the rad nades But please do take it, it can be useful in the future or for other frater Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327618-modelling-phosphex-bombs/#findComment-4555800 Share on other sites
MikhalLeNoir
Dark angel. I imagined them somehow always like a ball. Similar to christmas decoration. Of course with a ring on top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327618-modelling-phosphex-bombs/#findComment-4555807 Share on other sites
Charlo
I actually really like the canteen. I think WHTV recently had a tutorial for painting like vials of liquid... Could do that to make it look almost full with green liquid! Jackalwolf
Ultimate truth: Description: "Armillus Dynat is an expert duellist and warrior in his own right. Wielding a thunder hammer and power sword in unison and carrying uncommon wargear such as venom spheres and phosphex bombs, he is an opponent to be reckoned with." Of all the grenades he comes with, the only ones that are not regular are the spheres on his right and the strange thing besides the frag and krak ones on his left. Since the spheres seem to be a sphere and the one type of strange grenades he carries are "venom spheres" (does the reiteration of sphere make the correlation clear enough lol), we must assume the other strange device is the phosphex bomb. So there you go, this is how phosphex bombs look officially. And your third bit (utmost right in your picture) matches it brilliantly. Marshal Rohr
Don't paint your grenades different colors, I hate that (personally, do what makes you happy :D ). White Phosphorus grenades had a white stripe on them, so if you do black grenades, something like that could work. Cloud Runner
Of the bits you've chosen, I prefer the DA lanterns. For my (DA destroyers) I used one of the packs from the Grey Knights - it has puches and a BIG grenade with skull on it - it's the item on the right in this picture http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.php/grey-knight-strike-squad-accessories-p-465 :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327618-modelling-phosphex-bombs/#findComment-4558078 Share on other sites
Elzender
So, following the fraters advice, I've given a go at the dark angels bits, and I modified them a bit: http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w490/Risollano/Warhammer/20161110_192656_zpsufjm22uk.jpg The grenade pins are made with modelling chain hoops, think it looks half decent, although I guess I could leave them out and consider the upper ball is an activation button. Regarding paint (although this might take quite some time, still have to finish building the siege breaker), I think I'll go with the idea Charlo suggested and paint them like the phosphex was in a liquid state inside the grenades, guess I'll have to look for that tutorial Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327618-modelling-phosphex-bombs/#findComment-4559240 Share on other sites
