Reyner
Fa-ross here too, although seeing it all typed out all I can think is FUS RO DAH! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327690-pharos/#findComment-4557948 Share on other sites
Nemac Vradon
It's not the same word but would be pronounced the same at the start: Pharaoh The link has the word sounded out. Slightly different between the UK and US but still sounds like it would be fair-os to me. Legatus
English speakers will probably pronounce it "fay-ross", almost everyone else* will pronounce it "fah-ros". *Japanese might pronounce it "fah-rossu". Elzender
"Pharus" is the latin word for "Lighthouse", and it seems that "Pharos/Faros" would be the fonetical pronunciation of the Greek word for "Lighthouse" too, at least according to a quick look on the internet, but it kinda makes sense to me since in Spanish the word is "Faro". So yeah, it seems plausible that the intended pronunciation would be the third option you proposed. Is it possible that there is an audiobook regarding Pharos? That would give us a more or less canon response. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327690-pharos/#findComment-4558368 Share on other sites
