bit hard to tell, but with some paint on em I'm sure they'll be perfect They are Mk III pads as they were the only ones available for the left pad...they have plenty of different Mk's for deathwatch right side ones tongue.png oh well as the saying goes "beggars can't be choosers" looks like i'll be trying to source Mk III right pads from my mates Calth and prospero boxes!

i only ordered 10 initially to see how they turned out...plus they are about $4.00 Aus after shipping...each huh.png , i'm glad they don't wear em on both shoulders! laugh.png

++ EDIT++ i just went to the site for feedback and found other marks of the pad newly added wub.png

Edited by mithrilforge

Oh yeah, want to see pics with those pads!

As do i Race, as do i biggrin.png ,

I may even spray undercoat em as soon as i get home from work, since their clear its really hard to tell if there are any imperfections unsure.png and i want to put one on marine 0 to see what he looks like, perhaps that'll kick me into gear to sort out the basing technique I'm thinking of using...

Q- Does anyone have Raptors Decals? I'm thinking scouts etc and perhaps vehicles...

cheers, Mithril

If you're up for preparing your own (which isn't difficult), there's two sets in Ye Olde Decal Project

i Checked em out, The raptors one looks a bit naff blink.png compared to the modern symbol, I'd be more inclined to go for the Modern Mentors one...how would i go about changing a red decal to white?...

cheers Mithril

Note* the weather here at home has been in the high 30's (Celsius to you Fahrenheit folk tongue.png) so paints been drying on the brush and palette quickly ohmy.png

should have pics of my first finished marine and some WiP of the scout squad in a day or 2.

I'd be more inclined to go for the Modern Mentors one...how would i go about changing a red decal to white?...

The first thing to understand is that printers don't print white (apart from a few specialist expensive examples). So if you want a white symbol, you need to print a decal that only has the outline of that symbol on clear decal paper. You base coat your miniature white, add the decal and then clean up around the edges. I did a more comprehensive right up here:

Not meaning to high jack further, yet my crappy printer does better on white than clear. Black is also more forgiving when painting over the decal. If I had a gripe, it would be that the paper seems "thicker". So, unless the gloss coat goes thick on the edges then you can see the shape of the decal over the model.

Custom printing is simply too expensive for me, especially since I'm going for table-top quality. Yet the modeler in me goes like this: :/

thanks for the feedback on Decal issues, will tackle that when i get to it i guess tongue.png

some more progress on the scouts with base coats (not worth a pic as they look the same) i also have been working on my "Combat Chaplain" as well whilst painting the scouts

here's a WiP of him , i know he's not traditional but this is my idea of a chaplain in work dress, not ceremonial black laugh.png

Nice work so far thumbsup.gif

I gotta say, every time I see this model outside of GWs site I am more impressed with it.

Well this model has been good and bad... his left hip plate was a blob that didn't look like a hip plate ohmy.png so replaced it with an empty cross draw holster. I also cut off most of the toilet paper hanging off of him tongue.png GW= too many huge long purity seals and too many skulls(the one on his head is an exceptionlaugh.png )

I honestly think it looks better when it's non GW painted...

more updates tomorrow, and a better pic of him i hope!

cheers Mithril

P.S. hey Race - any idea's on the crozius painting?

Duh..Computer isn't allowing me to give likes so consider Race Bannon & Inquisitor Alycon having a like each biggrin.png.

@ Race - A Bronze like colour could work ...will give it a go, he does need to have Some bling i guess...the blood & gore from traitors skulls will dull it down in no time happy.png

@ Inquisitor Alcyon - Yeah my thoughts too,he's easily still recognisable as a chaplain (well i'm going with that now anywayph34r.png) .

Q- Would Raptors/Raven Guard take some shooty SternGuard ?and if they did how would i arm them?, Never used em before...ever !

Cheers, Mithril

With Raptor CT, Sternguard are crazy :tu: as long as they use their Bolters.

So stick with their Bolters in some way, even combi would work. In my opinion (expressed elsewhere) the more gear you pack on SG, then more threatening they are with 3+ saves.

I agree with Race on this. Sternguard veterans are great, but the more points you spend on them, the higher they get on your opponent's target priority list.

At 220pts for 10 guys, they can wreck havoc on most units in the game. If they get focused on, you only loose 220pts worth of your army. If they're left alone, they run around spraying special ammo were they are needed or stand still and fire Hellfire rounds with Rending thanks to Legendary Marksman. This will cause wraith knights/Riptides some problems.

Ok cool,Thnx for the response's guys thumbsup.gif

I have decided to put together a squad of 5(for now) SternGuard all with Combi-Plas...Now,should i give the Vet Sgt anything else? or simply keep him shooty with a combi-plas as well?

@ Kierdale- lets choose...Raptorish tongue.png

Cheers,Mithril

Alright, the other 4 will have combi-plas, should i give him a Combi-plas, combi-melta? or combi-grav?... (in actual fact i may not have enough combi-plas's left anyway mellow.png)

cheers Mithril

p.s. thanks for anyone who's given me info/advice,it's much appreciated wub.png
