okonomiyakimarine
Hi guys Hoping for some input on the design of an Assault squad. They come with jump packs, so i cannot put the combat shields on their backs and they will have to carry them. I pictured them to have the shield in the left hand, a ccw in the right and the bolt pistol in the holster. So how to use the bolt pistol? Take it into the left hand (shield arm!) or move the ccw back into the scabbard and then pull the bolt pistol from your right, I guess? Which means I cannot model them using both weapons, because the shield cannot just be moved away... Sorry maybe the solution is obvious, but with wysiwyg i tend to also look at the practicality how the model would use what is there. The other reason I ask is that many weapon models only come left or right hand and I do not want to invest in bits that look stupid on the models as a whole squad, when everyone who wields a pistol carries the shield on the right side, while everyone with a ccw will carry it on the left... thanks for you input! IronDrake28
With the current assault marine box, you put the shield on the forearm/wrist of this pistol arm. Major_Gilbear
The current SM Command Squad Champion has the shield on the bolter wrist like so: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xedVO6jt0Jc/UFVPV7-CcII/AAAAAAAAB1w/psAOrb1RDvM/s1600/combat_shield.jpg I would imagine that the same would work for your assault squad? The thing to keep in mind here is that the combat shield is more like a buckler than a full shield (size notwithstanding), so having it on the back of the bolt pistol hand makes some sort of sense at least. Tyberos the Red Wake
With the current assault marine box, you put the shield on the forearm/wrist of this pistol arm. This. For the newest box, the shield is its own piece, so just find a left pistol arm and glue the shield on. okonomiyakimarine
cheers guys. I am a heresy guy and did not bother checking out the latest gw sprues. shame! but still, with FW bolted pistols being right handed holsters and BaC giving me right handed pistols I might end up with either looking for left handed swords or have the marine wield either sword or bolt pistol. Fenrykus
You could also have the Marine simply holding the shield, if you can't find any suitable alternatives; for WYSIWYG, even a holstered bolt pistol on a model counts, as it's physically represented on the model.
