WingCommander
Hello everyone, I am planning to use a recon squad in my Iron Warriors army. Its members should be equiped with bolters and wear recon armor instead of power armor. As no official models exist I am wondering what to do. The obvious choice would be SM scouts but they don't look Heresy era to me at all -- and even less Iron Warriors. Has anyone an idea which models to use instead? I thought about Tempestus Scions but I am unsure about what heads/helmets to use with them. Mk IV? Bare heads? And I would definitely need capes. Are there other models to use as a basis? Any suggestions regarding heads/helmets? Has there ever been a comment from FW if/when they will release legionnaires in recon armor, i.e. is waiting an option? Lord_Ikka
Anvil Industries have Black Ops units that are prety good looking. Their sniper squad would probably work http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Exo-Lords/Black-Ops/Black-Ops-Sniper-Recon-Team Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327857-legionnaires-in-recon-armor-which-models-to-use/#findComment-4562774 Share on other sites
Brother-Chaplain Kage
I don't remember the source - probably one of the weekender or game day threads - but I remember reading that someone of authority at FW said there would be no official 30k scout figures being made. When I went to make one of my own (with the intention of eventually making more), I didn't really like anything from GW; the 40k scouts are just ridiculous and the only thing I liked about the scions were the helmeted heads so I looked elsewhere and eventually settled on the Eisenkern figures from Dreamforge to use as a base. http://i.imgur.com/Sy113Jv.png There's been some extensive converting, with a tissue cloak that I did a tutorial on, but I really suggest that you not limit yourself to just GW. I looked at the Black Ops figures Ikka suggested, but I thought they looked a bit too much like power armor marines. Victoria Miniatures is another good 3rd party maker that has a lot of multi-part figures that would be great for conversions. WingCommander
@Ikka: Thanks for your suggestion. The Black Ops form Anvil Industrie are indeed good looking, I really like them, but their armor looks too much like power armor to me. @Brother Chaplain Kage: Wow, that is a fantastic conversion -- and a great tutorial, too. Thanks a lot for sharing! I will definitely keep that in mind and have a look at the Victoria models as well. Are there any other suggestions?! Charlo
If none of your other marines are wearing it, perhaps MkVI without/ with moified shoulder and a smaller back pack? Marshal Rohr
The anvil Regiments range has some really really nice fatigue legs and plate carrier torsos. Fenbain
The anvil Regiments range has some really really nice fatigue legs and plate carrier torsos. Sadly these are too small in size/scale to be legionnaires. I have some outspoken views on power armor, but I think with some modest work you can improve the scale :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327857-legionnaires-in-recon-armor-which-models-to-use/#findComment-4563804 Share on other sites
