GriffonI92
Just want some people's opinion and input from a fluff perspective on Emperor's Children Assault Squads models wise. Debating between the Mark V and Mark IV The Mark V looks cleaner and newer which I think would fit with the Emperor's Children aesthetic but a buddy informed me they were mainly used by Raven Guard and loyalist The Mark IV looks pretty cool and imposing but I am afraid it looks a little too in sync with the fancy armor they traditionally were. A few pictures in the books have Assault Squads in Mark III as well and am slightly looking that way as the armor is more close quarter suited looking but again, aesthetic wise doesn't look Emperor's Children. Another option I have been debating is to take the back packs from the Mark IV and put them on Mark V armor.... Thanks! God-Potato of Mankind
Your company intercepted and slaughtered a Raven Guard fleet supply tender at Istvaan and found it brimming with Corvus plate. IronDrake28
Do you mean MKVI instead of MKV? MKV is the one with all the bonding studs and MKVI is the beakie armour. Purple MKVI would be awesome. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327889-trying-to-stay-true-with-my-ec-and-assault-squads/#findComment-4563727 Share on other sites
Supe robot gangster #1
It also depends what part of the timeline you are basing your force. According to betrayal at the time of istvaan III the emperors children mainly used Mk II and IV with III only used by a few specialist units. Any time after istvaan though you are kinda free to use whatever you like due to looting and whatnot Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327889-trying-to-stay-true-with-my-ec-and-assault-squads/#findComment-4563742 Share on other sites
Sandlemad
If it is MkVI you mean (definitely cleaner than MkV), you should be fine if your army is mid-late heresy. "Mainly" used is the key point. Even if it were 90% used by RG and AL, there's still wiggle room for a few EC to wear it later on. You could say they: - took it from the Raven Guard, as God-Potato suggested - took a handful from a rare Salamanders recon battalion at Isstvaan (Salamanders and Iron Warriors field-tested MkVI. They didn't care for it but there might have been a few oddballs/recon troops going into battle in it) - were provided with a handful of examples and the designs by their Iron Warrior allies during Petrurabo and Fulgrim's quest into the eye - took the designs and gear from a forge world they ravaged - were given a bunch of suits by their (suspiciously?) generous Alpha Legion allies - started trying to imitate the design on the march to Terra for aesthetic reasons and did surprisingly well Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327889-trying-to-stay-true-with-my-ec-and-assault-squads/#findComment-4563744 Share on other sites
Theredknight
My vets are mk5, mainly to single them out, and bling bronze studs look swish!
