Vogon
Hi guys, I just wanted to share my version of Alpharius built for the Armies on parade thing I know it's a bit of a stop gap and is a very simple conversion but I am happy with it for now. Hrolf the Cunning
Really like it mate, how does it compare for size against the normal marines? Halandaar
I normally have a strong dislike for Stormcast Eternals as the basis of Marine conversions, but this one looks great. The usually out-of-place mail loin cloth fits the Alpha Legion scalework theme very well. Ryltar Thamior
Wow! Nice work! As others have said, usually the usage of Stormcast as the basis for Marines (which turns up from time to time in Truescaling) seems a little off; but here, it nicely contributes to the look and character of the miniature. I'm trying to work out why that is - possibly it's partially due to the muted (and definitely Marineish) tones of the paintjob (avoiding the issues which golden Custodes conversions from Stormcast have as looking a little lazy, for instance). The helmet does a great job of making the miniature as well. If I might ask ... what's the source of parts for hte spear? Vogon
Thanks guys, it's basically a Stormcast Paladin Protector with a Headhunter Head and shoulder pads, a mkII backpack and some trimming off of the mor obvious sigmar iconography. Here's a WIP for scale next to a B@C MkIV marine I was inspired by the cover of Praetorian of Dorn and thought the model fitted without much changes required. K3nn3rs
It's excellent - I didn't realise it was a storm cast until it was mentioned a few posts down - great work! Aramis K
Really nice, like the clean lines for this and the paint job. Manages to escape stormcast origins. Halandaar
More people should make helmeted Primarchs, as far as I'm concerned Especially for Alpharius, it seems to me like if you want any member of the legion to be able to pose as any other member then helmets would assist in that regard. Vogon
It has occurred to me that despite all the models I have painted so far for the various painting events on here, I have yet to post a full army shot so far. Still slowly building with another 30 marines, three jet bikes and a fire raptor in the wings but I certainly feel I'm getting there. Vogon
Looks really great. What blue are you using, if I may ask? It's a base of Sotek Green followed by a wash of Druchii Violet then highlighted with Sotek Green then Temple Guard Blue. Charlo
Really like him! The helm is a little too bland for my taste but the conversion overall is excellent and perfectly represents the Enigmatic Primarch(s) of the XXth :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328099-my-alpharius/#findComment-4799050 Share on other sites

Vogon
I’m resurrecting this thread to coincide with the start of ETL toast as my painting blog. I’ve had these guys in the to do pile for a while as I’ve been building a new 40K Iron Warriors army, but now I’m back to 30K. I’m also hoping to grab the new FW Alpharius from Warhammer Fest to also put towards ETL later in May. Vogon
Finishing these guys off. Unfortunately they were too far along to be submitted for ETL. Pearson73
Nice shade of the blue, the brass metals on the Sicaran work well with it too. Vogon 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328099-my-alpharius/#findComment-5074063 Share on other sites
Vogon
Thanks, the Sicaran is actually a repurposed Raven Guard tank I did a few years ago. I basically repainted all the panels I thought right blue and tidied it up a bit. Just some decals to go and it’ll be gracing a gaming table soon.
