Mithrilforge
Well here is my Very WiP of my Commander for my small start force (500pts) of Raptors. I decided that i didn't want an all black Chaplain(as cool as they look ) but wanted him to tie in with the rest of my Drab force but also stand out a wee bit. shouilder trims will be black as will be the top of his overstated backpack, C&C gladly Welcomed/received for the colour combo's and or ideas on the Crozius. Cheers, Mithril Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328132-wip-finished-raptors-chaplaincombat-issue-uniform/ Share on other sites

Son of Carnelian
I'm always more of a fan of Chaplains in their traditional colors, however, yours looks beautiful! Mithrilforge
Thanks for looking and for the nice comments, i know peeps will say he's not in black and i totally get it but i just wanted to be a little bit out of the box on this one, since according to Fluff The Raptors Chapter are somewhat divergent in certain aspects of Codex Compliancy... so i thought a Drab'd up chaplain in "combat issue" armour would be cool Cheers, Mithril Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328132-wip-finished-raptors-chaplaincombat-issue-uniform/#findComment-4571166 Share on other sites
Corsovitt
I remember in the original chaplain article in WD 114 (?) circa 1987/88 that not every chapter had its chaplains in all black some had halved schemes and others think it was merely a shoulder pad or helmet painted black. So I'm loving the old school vibe on this marine Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328132-wip-finished-raptors-chaplaincombat-issue-uniform/#findComment-4571240 Share on other sites
Halandaar
Personally I quite like specialist ranks (Chaplain, Librarian, Apothecary) using the chapter colour scheme with office-related accents like tabards or helmets; for me it ties them in better. Bright blue librarians can be really clashy with some colour schemes, for example. So this is a thumbs up from me Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328132-wip-finished-raptors-chaplaincombat-issue-uniform/#findComment-4571263 Share on other sites

Custom Hero
I like what you've done here. I don't like the all color coded army either. I have a knightly theme to my marines, so I use the office colors on the armor in a tabard style floeing into the robes. Â You're colors are sharp and I would recognise this as a Chaplain without any problem on the table. UnitedAstartes
Absolutely love the green - and it's a Chaplain. Just got into the hobby this year and my very first painted mini was a Chaplain from the Command Squad box, have a soft spot in my heart for them. Â Looking forward to seeing it finished. Ryltar Thamior
Nice :D It's obviously a chaplain (particularly with many of the skulls skull done in bone as a compromise which still doesn't diverge too much from 'camo' colourschemes - and, obviously, the crozius etc.); but via the application of the good ole olive drab, it's also clearly a Raptor. And if there were ever any chapter whose Combat Pragmatism would militate a Chaplain in a similar colour-scheme to that ... it'd be the Raptors. Will you be keeping the chest aquila black as well? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328132-wip-finished-raptors-chaplaincombat-issue-uniform/#findComment-4573048 Share on other sites

jpwyrm
Good job mithrilforge! I like your way of thinking about the chaplain's colours of office. Might take some "inspiration" from it when I get to paint mine Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328132-wip-finished-raptors-chaplaincombat-issue-uniform/#findComment-4585349 Share on other sites

Mithrilforge
How did you paint the armour? Nice paint job by the way. Sorry didn't see this ... the armour is based white spray(corax) i then paint the whole thing with watered down averland sunset and then use DeathWorld Forest as the base colour for the armor, washes with agrax earthshade and highlights with Zandri dust.
