The Baltus Sector Crusade

Servant of Dante

Recommended Posts

The Baltus Sector Crusade is coordinated by Black Cohort in the Liber section of the B&C.

I think this is a really neat project that is going on in the Liber Astartes forum. It even has its own sub-form now, which can be found here.

The reason I'm starting this thread is that, of course, I want to contribute some Sisters to the Crusade. Black Cohort has them initially listed as coming in after the main force of the Crusade, but has said he is flexible, since the Sisters may well ignore the Crusade command and do their own thing.

I was hoping that some of the other Sisters players here on the B&C might be interested in participating as well. We could coordinate what we write - I was thinking that the Mission/Commandry/Preceptory that the Sororitas sends would be comprised of multiple orders (though I think the Baltus Sector is in the galactic east, so they would probably need to be orders linked to the Convent Prioris).

It looks like each of us who participates would give a brief biography of a force participating in the crusade (numbers, names of Commanders, short history of the Order, and so on). I personally want to contribute more narrative material, and I have been told I can, though it would need a new thread to be started.

As for what the Sisters are doing, the Baltus Sector has come under the control of a rather charismatic leader (obviously a heretic), so they could be heading for her, but my favorite idea is that there is/was a Sororitas Convent in the Baltus Sector, and the Sisters are trying to reestablish contact.

Anyway, anyone interested? I'm torn between doing a force of one of the major orders, or a new diy minor order. Someone could even do a non-militant order or something. I'm thinking that the Canoness-Preceptor (if the total force is over 200 Sisters and thereby qualifies as a Preceptory) be from one of the Major Orders (probably Sacred Rose, Ebon Chalice, or Ardent Shroud).

Perhaps the Preceptory could be aiming to find a relic, or reclaim a Shrine of some sort? Ooh, or what if they were meant to be the honour guard for a particularly prestigious shrine, and they were sent to relieve the previous guard, only for them to enter the sector and discover chaos shenanigans!

The Baltus Sector has been kinda lost to the Imperium for many years, so there wouldn't be a regular rotation of guards, I would think. And the enemies are not chaos necessarily. Just heretics.

Here's what I've done so far. Our objective would be the Cylingal Convent, set up by the Abbess herself after the First Tyranic War to study Tyranid biology and behavior! Secondarily, Cylingal is a Shrine World (or was, don't know what shape it's in now), so there will be a plethora of relics to recover.

+++ Adeptus Ministorum Master System/Planetary Index - Entry 753.41.00284 +++

+++ Sealed By Word of the Abbess of the Adepta Sororitas +++

Segmentum Ultima - Blatus Sector - Fimbris Sub-Sector - Cylicgal System - Cylingal

Class: Shrine World

Population: 3.2 billion (approx, as of 700.M41)

Notes: Extremely temperate climate, prone to areas of dense foliage including vast but well tended forests and gardens, moderate polar ice caps, several aesthetically pleasing seas and mountain ranges, over 50,000,000 cathedrals, churches, shrines and statues

753.M41 - (Extracted from external source) Even after the recent destruction of Hive Fleet Behemoth we find we know little of these hideous invaders of our Emperor's domain. In order to alleviate our ignorance, Sisters from the Orders of the Lexicon [Order Famulous, Holy Terra - Convent Prioris] and Eternal Candle [Order Hospitaller, Ophelia VII - Convent Sanctorum] have been dispatched by order of the Abbess to the Cylingal System in the Baltus Sector, giving them ample opportunity to catalogue and study the remains of the Xeno fleet.

762.M41 - Minor civil unrest during a violent political transition in the sector.

762.M41 - The Cylingal Convent's reports stop.

768.M41 - Loss of contact with the Baltus Sector confirmed by multiple arms of the Adeprtus Ministorum, Adeptus Terra, and Adeptus Mechanicus

772.M41 - Cylingal Convent officially declared lost, all other records purged by word of the Abbess.

941.M41 - Prioress Helena of the Convent Sanctorum orders the recovery of the Cylingal Convent and the planet itself in conjunction with the Baltus Sector Crusade. The recovery is led by Canoness Commander Luxia Telnayan of the Order of the Valorous Heart and 150 Sisters of her Order.

Here's the force I am contributing to this operation. The idea is that Luxia is nominally in charge of the Sisters forces, though in reality all of the Canonesses and Palatines coming along would come to decisions as a group. I'd be happy to see other people contribute forces from either other Orders Majoris or your own Orders Minoris (the Order of the Glorious Reprisal is way the heck and gone in the galactic south, and they don't often go far from Delmarus in any case). They can easily be from the Convent Saanctorum or the Convent Prioris.

Commandery of the Order of the Valorous Heart

Objective: Investigate the Cylingal Convent, and recover any records found there. Recover relics known to have been housed on Cylingal [see attached list].

Date of Creation:941.M41

Commander: Canoness Commander Luxia Telnayan

Size: 150 Sisters, 3 Exorcist tanks, transports

By the Word of: Prioress Helena of the Convent Sanctorum

(hopefully I'll expand on this later, but it is one of the 6 Orders Majoris, so any history I added would be compiled from other sources)

and here's a crude map of where the Baltus Sector is
