If you're looking for larger areas, try masking film, also called frisket (iwata link). Bryan Blaire Posted December 4, 2016 Share Posted December 4, 2016 Tamiya makes good modeling masking tape that comes in smaller sizes, like 2 mm and 6 mm, and Pactra is by some considered even better and comes in 1/16" and 1/8" (but it's generally more expensive). Google also brings up some good results with "scale model paint masking tape" including some tips.
