If the Deacons DO use the Animus Speculum, just outright state they use the Animus Speculum in the rules for your personal Codex supplement.

 

When writing fluff (short stories to explain the background), have the Deacons describe it as "the Device", other Hangmen describe it as "Psyker's Bane" or "Daemon's Bane", and those who aren't members of this Chapter?

 

Non-Conclave Inquisitor: "What is the device...?"

 

Hangmen Deacon: "It is the Device."

 

Non-Conclave Inquisitor: "It looks like the Animus Speculum a Culexus assassin would use."

 

Hangmen Deacon (deadpans): "Does it?"

 

Non-Conclave Inquisitor (draws his bolt pistol): "You violate the laws of the High Lords...!"

 

Hangmen Deacon (breaks the Inquisitor's neck before the pistol clears its holster): "The Emperor's word is the only law that matters."

 

Conclave Inquisitor (approaches the other Inquisitor's corpse): "What did this one do?"

 

Hangmen Deacon: "He asked the wrong questions."

 

Conclave Inquisitor (summons his acolytes, who remove the corpse): "I warned him about that."

LOL...I like it, I wont steal it completely but part of this might find its way into their short story for the Dark Odyssey project.  :) Good point about the devices as well...noted.
