Horus Heresy project - characters, ships, timelines

Hi all :)

So, I've been working on a bit of a HH project for the past few years while re-reading the series, and having recently caught up I've finally put the results onto a site:

https://sites.google.com/site/tymellsheresy/home

Just a basic site for now, but this includes a full Dramatis Personnae of all named characters, list of ships and notes on any references to timelines and dates. I'm sure I'm far from the first person to do something like this, but I'm posting it here in the hope that at least some of it might be of use/interest.

The Dramatis Personae seems to be empty on my end. Not sure if that's a problem on my end, it happens on two browsers, but as you say it is supposed to be filled already.

Amazing work, in any case. I'll be sure to pass it on to my girlfriend, since we recently talked about her starting the series for good (already got a few shorts and the opening trilogy down, I believe). This will be massively useful trying to untangle the series for her benefit!

Hmm, odd, I'm not sure why. It does take a few moments to load up since it's such a big document, it should appear as an excel spreadsheet embedded into the page. I wouldn't imagine you'd need excel software for it to display (especially since I converted it to a google doc), but I could be wrong about that.

EDIT: Weird, when I view it myself, even "preview page as viewer" it works fine, but when I log out of google and view it, yeah, it's blank. Apologies, I'll try to fix it.

No need to apologize, that's some massively impressive work right there. All the other pages appear to work as intended.

By the way, some notes from me, may or may not be helpful:

What about filing Horus Rising under Emperor's Children as well? Eidolon gets a good introduction there, as do Lucius and Saul Tarvitz. Since all of them get further developments in Galaxy in Flames which is already listed and afterwards with the exception of Saul, it might be worth noting down.

Then there's the Wolves part of Scars and Vengeful Spirit which aren't noted down, but both connect to Wolf King and feature Russ. Also Weregeld, and Raptor.

Vengeful Spirit can also be added to Emperor's Children due to Fulgrim's big outing as a Daemon, and to the Death Guard for Mortarion's dabbling and Grulgor.

Likewise, Perturabo and the Lion interact at the end of Fallen Angels, just prior to Isstvan V. Not a massive piece, but its in there.

And then there's the World Eaters presence in The Master of Mankind, most notably Angron's examination.

For the Thousand Sons, The Outcast Dead may be relevant due to Atharva and Magnus's psychic skype message. Atharva is featured in the Primarchs novel, as per the excerpt too.

With all the Primarch cameos, like the one with Perturabo in Fallen Angels, or Horus at the start of Praetorian of Dorn, it might actually be better to add another category entirely, for cameos and short glances that aren't actively developed in the novel but serve as connective tissue only. Potentially relevant for the timeline but no big events.

For Events, you can file Scorched Earth, Raven's Flight, Deliverance Lost and possibly even The Face of Treachery to Isstvan V.

Very good job with the HH timeline. You did the stuff all of us were just dreaming about or simply had no time to finish.

ships-of-the-horus-heresy - you missed some. If I will have time today I will add a dozen for you.

Think I've got the Dramatis Personnae part fixed now :)

Yeah, I like the idea of something dealing with those brief cameo appearances. That's the tricky part of it: what do I count for the purposes of those timelines? I've tried to do it based on bigger appearances for now, like how Rogal Dorn appears in Horus Rising, but it's only brief. Which isn't to say it isn't a worthwhile appearance, but if someone asked "What should I read to see the Imperial Fists' story during the Heresy?", I don't think I'd include Horus Rising, or at least not say to read the full novel just the the sake of that. But it is still worth noting, of course. Maybe some other formatting to show a more minor appearance?

Thanks to folks for the ships info, I'll have a look through and see what there is to add :)
