Iconic Canoness is coming this weekend.

Recommended Posts

I, very luckily, just so happened to refresh, randomly, the 40k GW page at, like, 11:53 EST. Within ten minutes it was sold out. I have no idea how a pre-modern can sell out. Can't they just, you know, make more (and have a disclaimer telling folks that the mini might be sent later than the release date)?

I am lucky and have an FLGS that reserved me one of their two allotted minis.  AFAIK their second one is still unclaimed - I'm the only Sisters player that goes to that store since most people go to the larger one a little further away.  I'll have mine in hand midnight next Friday, so I'll let everyone know if she has special rules then (don't imagine that she will, but YNK)

Don't fret folks, she'll be available "for the foreseeable future". In my case my only reason for ordering now is to meet the free postage requirement for the made to order stuff. Although I spent too much time browsing and she went out of stock again despite being orderable for a while. Oh well, if all else fails I guess I can always order an Immolator instead to get the free shipping.

My local GW store manager stated it sold out (pre-order) in 6min. Also said to stop by first thing next weekend for another shot at it. So I will. But still, come on GW.. you're doing so well these days in the whole change-of-direction thing - why keep this silly pre-order crap and make us hustle. Is it just for the holidays?

Seriously, is this stuff just done for holidays? Because I can actually respect that, big release so only a few "lucky" ones get their shiny toy for that big day. Then two weeks or what ever afterwards it is available for the general public. But as I recall GW just likes to dangle the (plasma obliterator/FIRST PLASTIC SISTER IN EVER/whatever) and then pull it back? no no no, that's why China-cast is doing so well. Bad GW, bad.

I know I can't make it to my local store in the first hour next weekend, or ever. So am I just forsaken and thrown from the Emperor's light because of RL? I can wait a few weeks, it will let me soak up the new book and compare my collection with the new "wish list." Just let me have a chance without jerking me around GW. Geez.

  • 2 weeks later...

I ordered her via FLGS, hopefully they can get her (they even removed her from their list after she originally sold out). Mainly because my plans were foiled by the free shipping amount now being 75 rather than 55€.

It'll be fun to see how fast Celestine gets sold out though :P

On the second weekend, GW online was never restocked with her (~2 hours of casual refreshing.) So I went late in the afternoon to pick up C:IA and low, they had one. Needed about 5 min. of flash cleaning, but still nice.

Just noticed that our rhino is listed (GW online US site) for the first time in a long while. Canoness Veridyan is still not available, but I"ll hold off further comments until after the... 7th? Is that when Cadia falls?

I got the only one my FLGS got and we're normally able to snag a couple of everything on these sort of releases.

Only thing that bothers me is how small the amount of space she takes up compared to the box. It feels like there should be like twice as much stuff inside.

The extra space is there to be filled with Sister players tears of joy of finally getting a new model after a 13 year waittongue.png

I was watching a review of Veridyan....because I'm a nerd who just wants to see what people will say about the model and spotted something rather interesting:

Apparently the correct height for a Sororitas is taller than a Space Marine?

she is wearing ridiculously high heels...

Those aren't exactly "ridiculously high". That said that only adds half a head to her height at most. I mean her waist is at his shoulders.

I know scale creep is a thing, but she takes it to a new level. That or Marines need lessons in posture.

There's the heel and the fact that her supporting leg and body are totally straight and upright, while the marine has the usual half-crouch going. Even so like I've said in some thread or another, Sisters of Silence are just as tall as the most recent plastic marines - seems like Veridyan continues the trend.

Some day she'll be in stock and I'll have money and I'll buy her :P but she's still out of stock in the US.

Not a huge fan of Sisters being taller than Space Marines, but it's no big deal. But she's going to tower over the rest of my collection.

The Space Marine shown with the Canoness is an older one, which I believe was released around fifth edition (you can tell, as the weapon is glued to the hand, rather than the ones where the hand is attached to the weapon). So I have no doubt the modern Marines will be taller than him.

Here's a pic I took a while back, it's SoS vs the sergeant of the newer Devastator kit. Both are a bit bent at the knees, which makes them even... and they're pretty much exactly the same height. So much for superhuman-sized marines tongue.png
