Painting over transfers

So after about a year or so of playing 40k (Blood Angels and a little bit of IG) I've decided to build a company. Soon after this decision realizing I'll actually need to use transfers or have terrible looking freehand. I'm building the Blood Angels 5th company and the question I'm asking is, is it possible to paint over transfers while still on the sheet, then apply as normal. I.E. I have 2nd company blood drops (yellow), but the 5th has black blood drops.

It'd be better to apply the transfers completely*, including sealing them, then painting over them. This way, if you make a mistake, the paint can be removed with a slightly damp rag without damaging the decal.

Or you could check out the downloads section of this very website an download the blood angels 5 co transfer sheet and diy the decals. There is printer paper for decals as well, and tutorials can be found online. BOLS has a pretty good one, from before it was just click bait and ads, you can find.

What I do:

cut out the decal and apply it as normal.

Once dry, apply your sealant of choice.

Lay down a thin watered down layer of the paint colors used on the location of the transfer.

Once dry, go back in and use the transfer as a color by number to "freehand" in your symbol or numbers or whatever.

This also works great for changing the color of your chapter icon, to combine multiple elements of a transfer into one, or to make them looked weathered and chipped.

This 100% which is especially easy since Winterdyne's method prescribes using the gloss varnish making super easy to correct if necessary. I do this for all my decals to clean them up a bit after application. (CotGW prancy wolves are pretty finicky) msn-wink.gif
