Nusquam
Pushing subjective principles isn't going to get far. We now know the RAW in this particular case now and we have every right to adhere to it or change it. To decide if we believe it's intended or if it's an oversight and go from there. But we cant decide for others and thus would have to discuss any changes if necessary. To which your opponent then has every right to agree or disagree. That's the objective entirety of it. Brother Captain Spud
There is a pretty big distinction between RAW and an omission which is totally lost on many on this forum. Besides my experience as a gamer i spend my day job analysing government policy and legislation for a major multinational resources company assessing the distinction between explicit requirements in written law or policy and what is not mentioned and therefore what may be allowable. The key point to always remember is that silence does not equal prohibition. Examples of RAW "x unit may not deep strike" or "x unit may not take a power fist". An omission is where there is sufficient clarity in the written rules to be certain of the intention of the rules writers. This is a perfect example of this. These jetbikes can DS in their usual unit, however there is no specific mention of this ability when used by a independent character, as such it cannot be said that the RAW prevent independent characters and command squads from deep striking on jetbikes, they are simply silent on the matter. Where interpretations differ or are unclear discuss with your opponent as they will have similar instances of rule ambiguities or the tournament organisers as there are enough issues which they need to rule on about how the games are to be played before the first dice is rolled, one more won't be an iss. Withershadow
Ad hominem followed by appeal to authority. Solid start. War games tend to have an inclusive policy, you can only do what's allowed, not anything you can imagine that isn't specifically prevented by the rules. This isn't Ender's Game. BLACK BLΠFLY
Why do you think is FW's intent regarding this situation ? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328687-can-jetbikes-deep-strike/page/2/#findComment-4619140 Share on other sites
Slips
Alright, heres the deal. RAI discussion is all well and good but since we don't actually know FW's intention for not including Deepstrike as a Rule to the Actual jetbike wargear or whatever to give all jetbike equipped units deepstrike, all we can do is make assumptions in good faith with regards to FW. All this really does is help forward the making of House rules using common sense. However, since House Rules are just that and that this is an Online Forum that has discussion between people belonging to different groups and thus subject to different House Rules (if at all), all House Rules discussion can do is give context to why we make the decisions we do. That said, since we're discussing rules here and taking into account each and every one of our House Rules when discussing them is not all that feasible, the only common ground to be found is RAW. So, in this scenario, what does RaW say? Sky Hunter and Sky Slayers have the Deepstrike rule and Command Squads or Characters equipped with a Jetbike do not get the rule. Case closed. If this bothers you so much, send an Email to Forgeworld. If enough of you start asking the question, then they'll have to address it at some point in the future. In the meantime, talk to your personal group about how you want to handle this discrepancy. Going on and on about how you and yours would do it on an online forum with people who don't play 30/40k with you (unless you have local friends on here which a few do) isn't really going to change much.
