UserDefined
I had a question regarding paint proxying but I couldn't find anything related to this after a search so I've made this topic to ask you all a question. If I brought my dark angels to your gameshop/place of play and before starting a game let you know today I would be playing Imperial fists, Iron Hands, or Salamanders. How would you feel about that? Would you tell me to beat it? I ask this because I plan on continuing the theme, and painting everything dark angels. I like their fluff and I like their colours. Even if I bought some centurions or some form of marine plane I would paint them DA theme. I have an imperial knight, he will be DA colours. Only 2 sets of units are not currently that colour scheme and those are my IC space wolves that I sometimes field, and 2 speeders I bought that were already ultramarine blue. Those speeders will eventually become dark angel colours although they are beautifully painted. Bear in mind, all kit and weapons would be wysiwyg. Sounding the most fun is the Anvil strike force. Tyberos the Red Wake
You are WYSIWYG so 99% of players won't have a problem, and paint color has no effect on rules. You aren't required to paint your army a certain color to use a specific Chapter Tactic. UserDefined
I didn't think so but you never know what may be considered taboo if not rule breaking. Example, I would be cool with a plasma cannon painted to resemble a grav but most people would not. It's still a plasma cannon after all. Major_Gilbear
Personally, no I wouldn't (as long as it was completely clear what they represented, it was reasonable, and it was WYSIWYG). In my mind, the DA are pretty Codex-compliant in many ways, so unless they are on the trail of a Fallen, I imagine they would be pretty traditional otherwise. What I normally suggest in these instances is to paint two smaller forces - one in DA colours, and the other in one of their successors' colours. That way, you can even ally C:DA with C: SM if you want, and it's still clear which is which. However, it would still be fluffy to run them both as one unified DA force, or alternately as one unified generic SM force. Plus, it's a nice excuse to vary what you paint a bit! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328973-paint-proxying/#findComment-4599102 Share on other sites
