HOW much is an Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer?

So, I need help and advice, and I came back here - I can't even REMEMBER my account name, so I had to make a new account.

I'm trying to clear shelf space out of books I no longer read or have any interest in, and I grabbed my Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer (2003 edition) as a prime candidate. I decided to do a quick search to see if I could sell it and for how much (all the better to buy minis with...) and...

Amazon's price canNOT be real. $150 for used? $380 for new?

But it's literally the only price I can find.

I know good and well that prices on Amazon can get into a feedback loop, as the stuff which is reasonably priced actually sells and the outrageous prices are all that's left - so that becomes a new baseline. On the other hand, I do want to move this little book along to someone who actually cares while charging all the market can bear.

So I'm asking for advice from people who do care. How much SHOULD I sell this book for? I can't even remember how much I paid for it. I'll probably put it up on eBay in the next couple of days, but I don't want to alienate people who might want the thing.

Seriously, I didn't have this much problem finding prices for when I was selling my father-in-law's machine shop, and those machines were between fifteen and fifty years old!

I really hope this doesn't come across as spam or advertising. I'm just totally lost on a reasonable price, and I kinda hope that Black Library fans who love the universe's fiction can help me.

My old Damocles Gulf Edition was less than 20€ for sure. There was a later edition that combined it with the Munitorum book for a little more though iirc.

But this is simply what happens to out of print books that actually serve as great collector's items. Check out the Liber Chaotica originals if you want to throw up.

It really just comes down to what you are comfortable with. Do you feel like an arse putting it up for 50? 100? As long as you don't and you can find somebody willing to pay it, take what you can get for it.

It isn't really the individuals selling off their collections that are a cancer on ebay, but the scalpers deliberately buying in bulk to make a quick buck. These days they even put up limited editions for double the money that are still on sale! That's disgusting in my eyes. Buying up The End Times books before actual fans could get them, and then selling them on ebay for hundreds.. Heretic filth.

There's one up on eBay (Maryland, USA) starting at $35 USD + shipping, but that looks like day one of a seven day auction - search for it and see what it ends up going for. Meanwhile, there are three outside the USA with BINs of $450-$706 USD. Like you say - those're probably 'feedback loop' ones.

Hilarious; I spend a day looking for prices and someone puts up one literally a few hours after I give up looking and ask.

However, that is the 2008 edition; I still have no idea where to start the 2003 edition. Ehhh, I'll wing it.

AMAZING book! Probably my favorite BL publication to date...

Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer?  YOUR BEST BOOK? .......

Well, it's absolutely hilarious, yet takes itself utterly seriously. It's a punchline said with a face so straight that for a moment, you almost don't get it, and then when you do get it it's all the more hilarious for nearly having missed it.

I mean, one of the all-important measurements for a Guardsman's readiness is ocular reflex - it's super-duper important that they don't blink too much, right? The illustrations are priceless, too; making the aliens look weak and reedy next to the mighty Imperial Guardsmen. Did anyone else notice how much the Orks look like the early '90s minis?

I do reckon it a work of genius. It's just that if the book were somehow magically worth $150 I'd be willing to part with it in order to fund other, more interesting projects.

So someone wiser than I managed to tease out won auctions on eBay in the past, and it generally sells for around $100. Who knew?

I decided to Put it up on eBay at a little higher than the other guy was selling his Damocles Edition, with a frankly optimistic Buy It Now price as well. Hopefully we'll help each other; the buyer who just wants the book will go for his, the collectors will go for mine.

I mean, to each their own, right? But if I were to say "why", I guess it would be... 1) first and foremost, the fact that it's in-universe; 2) the old-style artwork (as compared to that of the Tactical Imperialis and Xenology); 3) the political satire, which is one the biggest things that attracted me to 40K in the first place; 4) the fact that it could couple as a gaming aid for Only War, with the potential for characters' macro decisions to be judged successful or unsuccessful based on their memorization of the advice contained within,

Actually it was fun, but not the best book from BL lol.
