bluntblade
Is your average Knight House limited to a single category of suits? Like, they could field Acheron and Castigator Knights, but only Cerastus models. Tyriks
I don't think they would, but maybe. My understanding was that they don't actually build knights, a Forge World would do that, but many are leftovers from before the Crusade, maybe getting replaced one at a time as needed over the years. So as long as a Forge World they deal with can make one I would think they'd be able to get it. Actually the Cerastus knights are supposed to be super rare so I would think typically even having one would be the exception. Shinespider
No. If you want to create a house that only fields one type of suit, you could certainly give them that quirk, but that's not something that's ever shown up in canon. Chaeron
I really like the thought of a house specialising in only a certain type of Knight suit: perhaps due to the nature of parts or repair, or indeed tradition, and therefore come in force of one variety when perhaps needed for specific tasks. As Tyriks mentions, perhaps one in close proximity to (or with affinity to) a specific Forge World might have more of an opportunity to procure a specific type of Knight or maintain several of a certain variety. Echelon
Nothing says you can't create your own house with those rules. But most houses have a variety of Knights. Some focus on melee and the duel more but none of them say they only use one specific knight. Canadian_F_H
Seams most houses have every pattern from the knight codex available. The FW varients are rarer, so limited only by availability. Now some houses prefer certain varients, maybe a few are strictly limited, tho I don't see why that would be a good thing... Magos Takatus
Since most knights are just the same chassis with a different weapon loadout they pretty much already do this. It would not surprise me if the weapons can be swapped over fairly easily like the space marine dreadnoughts can, but generally the weapon arms are kept the same due to personal preference. mechadryad
I believe the Questoris Knight house in HH6 only used Styrix and Magaera patterns. I makes sense that they'd only use mechanicum class Knights I think it's possible to not be able to field particular types of Knight due to lack of the required weapon but that would be pretty rare.
