Best ForgeWorld kit for beginner

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I wonder if anyone can me tell what ( in their opinion ) is the easiest kit Forge World model  for a beginner like me to build ?

By easy I mean a model that doesn't have too many parts ( will be the first time I work with a resin model ) that goes together relatively quickly.

Ideally I am looking for -

1) A Space Marine tank .

2) Either full resin or conversion / upgrade kit for an existing plastic vehicle ( eg Predator , Vindicator etc ).

3) A vehicle that can be used in both 30k Heresy and 40k army lists.

Thanks

In the back of my head I seem to remember a similar post from some time ago ( maybe about 12 months ago ? ) but I cannot find the Dorn thing.

If anyone just wants to post a link to that thread I would be grateful .

Sicaran Battle Tank is fairly easy. Only real issues I had with it were the thickness of the resin gates on the track assemblies, and the lack of positioning 'pins' on the hull (but since the hull parts all end up flush on each side, not so tough). Has a good bit of utility in both 30K and 40K (Rapid Tracking on the Accelerator Autocannon makes anything with a jink save cry).

Rules for 40K in IA2E2. For 30K, the rules are in just about all the Age of Darkness Army List.

Yep Sicaran is the easiest/goes together the smoothest,

The resin gates on the back will need to be filed down smooth, other than that it goes together very easily.

When you graduate to flyers do the Fire Raptor before the Storm Eagle...

Spartans aren't hard, but they can be quite tedious so better to leave that for later, it has worse issues with resin gates on the tracks. They come with the tracks attached now and in a box, but even so you will likely find bits of broken track in the packaging. Spartans will likely need a fair bit of sanding on the main hull so it can fit smoothly with the side parts - quite a lot of modellers have Spartan that don't sit flat and rock.

Make sure you have at least 2 clamps, ideally about 30cm long. 4 would be even better. Don't clamp too tight, make sure the pressure is the same for all the clamps.
