VulkansDynasty
Hey fellow commanders! I wanted to share my guard that I've been working on. If you notice in the rolls of dishonor I have a lot of models to go, but I'm slowly working on them as I go. The vehicles are at least going to be weathered up as I like the idea of them having been constantly active and on long campaigns working with my Salamanders. Command squad as it stands, and a sentinel, Valkyrie, hellhound WIP, it's since done but I guess I'm missing the pic Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/329350-sharing-my-guard-as-they-go-pics/ Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Lovely colours and weathering here, great stuff :tu: I like the orange and blue too, nicely done and make for excellent contrast. Keep the updates coming! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/329350-sharing-my-guard-as-they-go-pics/#findComment-4608566 Share on other sites

Brother Talarian
Nice painting! How did you get he weathered look on your hellhound? Did you use the mechanical paints? Or just a wash in the rivets/tracks etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/329350-sharing-my-guard-as-they-go-pics/#findComment-4608717 Share on other sites
The Pounder
Yeah, spill the beans on how you do your weathering! All the models you've put up look great. Tallarn Commander
The blue and red lines on the sent and flyer are great too. Did you free hand the lines on the sent? VulkansDynasty
Thanks guys! All the lines and weathering are free handed. The weathering effects are done with a mix of watered down dark flesh paint, forge world weather powders and colored pencils (art quality ones, though you may get similar effects with Crayola pencils if you crush them up).The Valkyrie was the first model I ever painted for the guard after it sat around for about 5 years and was an experiment that actually won a golden demon due to the weathering.I am sure I can do a tutorial if you guys want. New stuff and new shots: Top shot of the Valk: Completed Hellhound: Lord Commisar I finished up last night: My Knight: and a sneak peak at what I'm working on next. I may use this as shots for a weathering Tutorial, or I may show you guys on another sentinel or Chimera. What do you guys wanna see the effects on? (Edit to add images in after upload.) HackedDuck
A tutorial would be much appreciated, personally I don't mind what model you do it on just whatever's easier for you to take pics and explain. I am loving your work so far and a I can't to see the baneblade! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/329350-sharing-my-guard-as-they-go-pics/#findComment-4609311 Share on other sites
Brother Captain Ed
A tutorial would be great. I probably won't ever use it (I prefer ultra minimal weathering) but I love seeing the techniques other people use in detail. Makes it easy to take a nibble here and a nibble there..like a painting buffet. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/329350-sharing-my-guard-as-they-go-pics/#findComment-4609483 Share on other sites

P3AKHOUR
this is so good. That Valkyrie is a thing of beauty, the colour scheme and red markings on the wings have a very star wars rebel alliance feel to them. VulkansDynasty
Figured I should keep this updated as we go along, here's all the finished models from the Ioria Campaign, and the Boxing Day Bash. A few touch ups and that Taurox needs some more love, I'm not sold on it. VulkansDynasty
Alright. Laid out almost everything I have built/painted. Missing from this pic is another baneblade and my warhound, both which need some help before I share them. It is a bunch of pics so I am going to just link the album on imgur.
