Azaryn's Lamenters

Hi there guys, newbie here (well used to play wayback ... Armageddon days)

I picked up some Dark Angels recently from a car boot, most of the based purple or not at all.

I stripped the ones with the really gloopy paint.

Any C&C, Advice, Input is welcome, I'm planning on getting the BA Starter pack this weekend :).

Any tips on how to "lament" these dudes?

Cheers.

PS : Stripping was hard work but loved every minute of getting back into the hobby. That sounded bad.

I don't know if it's the camera but it looks like the only way to make them look better is to strip the paint and start over.

Oh yeah the paint is really thick I was going to strip them I think the guy I got them off painted them when he was quite young.

If by "make" you mean Assemble, hopefully they're glued with super glue. *If* they're done with super glue, you can try putting them in the freezer overnight. This will make the super glue brittle and easier to break. I'd wedge a thin blade (butter knife) and try and lever the pieces apart.

if, however they've been assembled with plastic glue, your only real option is a knife, slow and steady. Make sure it's a brand new blade, as you don't want to apply too much pressure at any given time, only for the blade to suddenly give way and cut way more than intended.

Cheers,

Jono

In addition to striping the models, source a jump pack for that Chaplain as he will look "better" with one (yes, that's a subjective term but the so-called "disco Lemartes" originally had one).

For the Baal, do you have the second sponson? Finding a front plate should be no bother (you could even plasticard it) but the sponson might be tricky. Either source a Leman Russ sponson or replace them both with the new style (if it looks OK, of course).

Oh, that Terminator Sergeant is illegal - find yourself a similar style regular Terminator and swap the ranged weapons.

I have the other sponson I think it could be glued back pretty easily.

The arms aren't glued on the termies thankfully.

Thanks for the info on Lemartes I thought the normal powerpack looked strange.

I was thinking of swapping out the bolt pistol on the librarian but I don't know what with.

I can't really tell what was used to be honest, I don't think the paint is miniature paint so I doubt the glue is plastic glue .... will give this a go, is it best to do this before or after stripping the paint?

I don't it'd matter too much, I do it after breaking them up. you'll get into any nooks and cranies that disappear with the dis-assembly.

That assault marine squad looks like one I saw on ebay under the header "Professionally Painted".

Looks like you've got a lot on your hands just stripping the lot!

Yeah I only paid 10euros for the lot & it was close to work. The baal predator was what interested me the most to be honest.

If you want to make them a bit more fun you could always add details from the newer kits. My own Lamenters have pouches, chalices and stuff from the new (relativly) blood angels tactical squad. I figure they are are proud of their ancestry and so blood angels-iconography is no problem.

Yeah I was thinking of giving them some more BA themed gear myself.

That link is quite useful, is that better value than the BA upgrade pack?

If you are going to strip the plastic minis I suggest isopropyl alcohol. I used that to strip some RTB01 Marines with a lot of success. Dunk them in a few minutes, then use a tooth brush to scrub off the paint.

Couldn't get the rest off ... Hopefully this will do. Don't know if i should paint & glue, or glue first. The doors all seem to work on the Rhino so I wouldn't mind doing the interior.
