Reasons for CM and Skitarii to fight

Recommended Posts

Absolutely. All machines that don't conform to Martian standards are the biggest imaginable affront to the machine god, so Dark Mechanicum would be a prime target. Chaos also killed the Omnissiah, I'm sure typical magi aren't happy about that. On top of that Chaos infects machines very easily, it seems (based on the novel Mechanicum) so preemptive attacks would be a sound strategy.
I also was curious if the CM were worth using with Skitarii? They seem to only offer two units worth taking, and it seems like the only formation worth taking is the War Con? I planned to run C:IA with GK and a Inq but would it be better to run CM? I want a daemon and chaos hunting force

Don't get that one blink.png

You want to play Imperial Agents, Grey Knights and Inquisition or is it better to run Cult Mechanicus... but instead of what?

I guess I should read what the canticles do for me and compare there value vs 1-2 NDKs and Interceptors.

Its like free upgrades and canticles work on Skitarii and the Knight, but the army is pretty much built for me. Which is a fair trade, or I can bring the nice light infantry skitarii, some NDKs and maybe a Librarius/ Inquisitors.

I just did a mock up list at 1850 and I got this:

Imperial Knight Gallant

Skitarii War Con

Onager

Vanguard: 10x man

Rangers: 10x man

Ruststalkers: 5x man

Infiltrators: 5x man

Dragoon: 1x walker

Cult Mech War Con

Dominus

Breachers: 3x man

Breachers: 3x man

Inquisition

Ordo Malleus: Carapace, ML1, Combi-Plasma, Force Sword

Daemonhunter

NDK: Greatsword, Personal Teleporter, Incinerator, Psycannon

Interceptors: 5x man

Just as a thought, if you were looking at using Cult Mechanicus with Inq/GK, the Tech-Priest taken from the Enginseer Congregation gives you a cheap way of boosting the tally of units with Canticles and, as an Independent Character, he can presumably join an Inquisition or GK to confer the benefits.

Unfortunately, a Tech-Priest selected as part of an Inquisitorial Henchmen Warband doesn't seem to have access to Canticles.

Don't you need a GK HQ choice for that list though? Inquisitors aren't part of the GK list anymore, and you've only got a Fast Attack and Heavy Support. You'll have to either take a cheap HQ, or use the Imperial Agents GK list and take a unit of Terminators.

If you want a war convocation, I think more Cult will usually be better. In that list you posted, once you lose a couple units your canticles are getting weaker. Adding in more Cult will safeguard against losing important buffs.

If you really want to include the Inq et al, I'd recommend not really counting on the canticles when you plan (since they'll lose some potency rather quickly). But don't count on still having the highest benefits, since you could easily lose enough units to drop down a notch on the first turn if your enemy goes first, especially with an alpha strike list.

If you do want to add cult, shooty Kastelans are amazing, and I'd recommend giving them a shot at least a couple times.
