hi everyone... i started posting on B&C back in 2007... and i ran a WIP thread for many years detailing my journey building and painting a Dark Angels Army... i had alot of great feedback and made some great friends while i was active on the B&C... the WIP thread was updated on and off for maybe 5 years i think or maybe a bit more... but owing to changing the folders on my photobucket all my images lost their links so instead of going back to sort that out... i thought to start a new WIP thread and begin my new journey with my DA Army here... its been a few years since i posted on B&C but i hope some of the old guard are still active...

anyways here are 5 of my Dark Angel Company Veterans from a unique formation drawn from the Company Veterans ranks called the 7th S.O.G. (Special Operations Group)or "Fallen Hunters"

i wanted to make these Vets up with a distinct "operator" look to them... all models were made using the updated Tactical Squad boxset... a great set which has many weapon options and various parts... you get alot of weapons in this set alone... so rather than making Tactical Marines i thought to build Vets... the kit was part of the Kill Team bundle i picked up before Xmas...

So i ordered some Anvil Industries Regiments range around my birthday last week... specifically the Kalarchi 17th Airbourne with Ops Core heads and Anti Material Sniper Rifles...Crisis SMGs... MG42s... and some other extras like bergens... additional mags and pouches... I managed to finish the build yesterday so am posting up the images here to show how they look...

The resin is excellent and the models have very sharp detail with no negative issues and almost no flash... they were pretty much perfect and required almost no prep...

thanks buddy! yeah i wasnt sure yet what to use the Anvil troopers as... maybe Astra Militarum Veterans or Scions (Storm Troopers/Kasrkin) they have a definite tactical look and i really like the mix of light armour torsos and legs with fatigue arms and Ops Core heads... as to a scheme i reckon perhaps a dark green base with pouches and belts in dark brown and boots in black or a proper camo/DPM scheme of some kind... waiting for an order of Army Painter spray before i can get started on the painting... i managed to get some painting done on the Dark Angel Veterans and i sprayed a bunch of my Deathwing with AP Skeleton Bone spray... i find it easier to use AP sprays to lay down the base colour as it speeds things up alot and i like the coverage and texture of the AP sprays... also the range of colours is excellent... i really loved the Deathwing Command kits and i think that was my 3rd one so far... i have 2 more boxsets of Tartaros Terminators to build... which should take my Deathwing numbers to over 45 i think... i really appreciate the comment... thank you!

well a little more progress with the DA Company Veterans... built up the armour colour with dry brushing after using Biel Tan Green wash beforehand... happy with them so far...

these were the paints i was using...

so i was a little restless tonight... i wanted to build another kit as i wasnt going to sleep anytime soon... so after looking through my unbuilt kit stash i settled on some Tartarus Terminators... these were alot of fun to build and i really liked all the options available in the box... anyways here they are... i did take some time to pose them a little more dynamically than what we usually see with TDA Marines as per my usual SOP... i am pretty sure i am definitely over 50 TDA Marines in my Deathwing...

oh and i almost forgot... i added some tactical pouches to those Anvil Industry Kalarchi 17th Airborne... also all the weapons now have suppressors including the MG42s (i used cue tips to make the suppressors on those). then i sprayed them with Army Painter Angels Green spray... i then went over and touched up any areas i missed with the same colour but from the normal bottle... after that i washed them withy GW Biel Tan Green shades and now they are waiting for a few layers of drybrushing before i pick out details and finish the highlights...

so some more progress... these are a custom unit of mine... i call them Deathwing Stormguard... they are shock assault troops used in the most desperate circumstances... they will probably *counts as* DA Company Vets though i will be adding small shields and pistols to these... a mix of Horus Heresy Bolt Pistols and Plasma Pistols... they should be quite good in games... that is if i can find 8th. Ed rules for Chain Glaives... not sure if they exist...
