aznviking
Chapter Master or Great Jarl as he is called within the chapter, Demir Bahadur of the Sons of Skandia. I've been waiting to build him for a while, I have just been waiting for the right bits. Not too happy with the white on his chest, so will probably revisit that at some point. My white scar and Ulthuan grey were quite clumpy no matter how much i tried to thin them so it's probably time for some new paints. aznviking
Looking solid! Will we get more Chapter info? I've been working on the Sons of Skandia with my brother. We wanted to do something a little more Viking based since we are Danish and we chose to do something less wolfy then the space wolves. Since wolves can't have successors we took the next best thing, and these guys are descendants of Dorn. Their chapter monastery is based on the moon of the feudal world, Skandia. The chapter is split into 3 clans which each draw their initiates from one of the three local cultures; the wild clansmen of the cold north, stern warriors of the mountain regions or the noble men from the southern plains. Since each clan draws from their own respective cultures this has lead to each having their own specialty and personalities. - Volsung, which draws from the wild men tend to be a bit more wild in their personalities and specialize in close combat. They tend to keep totems and cover their armor in more runes then the rest of the chapter. All of the chapter's vanguard veterans and most assault squads can be found here. - Scyling draws from the noblemen of the plains who tend to be more structured, analytical and calm. Most of the tactical squads and all the sternguard are found within their numbers. - Skjodung draws from the mountain men who are stern and pragmatic. Here most of chapters Devastators, tech marines can be found. Instead of traditional companys each clan is broken down into a number of warbands. Each warband is lead by a Jarl and can vary in size ( 30-120 marines) depending on the Jarl's pedigree. In instances where one Jarl and his warband is deemed not enough to deal with a certain threat then the chapter master (known as the Great Jarl) selects a few Jarls to band together, naming one to Merkismathr, who is in command of the campaign. The chapter colors are red and white, and the chapter symbol is Odin's knot. I chose the knot to signify the unity between the 3 clans. Each clan is then represented by their own color which can be found somewhere on their armor: Volsung (blue), Scyling (purple), Skjodung (black) Three members of clan Volsung under Jarl Egil Harkon "The Singing Blade" Three members of clan Scyling under Jarl Sigurd Gudbrand "the Huntsman" Chapter Symbol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/329912-sons-of-skandia-chapter-master/#findComment-4626182 Share on other sites
BLOODSAINT
I really like your story and thoughts. Plus your marines are looking pretty good! White is one of the hardest colors to get right. If you're having trouble, definitely get some fresh paint (try Viejo), and try using wet pallette! If you don't know what that is, just ask! Bjorn Firewalker
Good job. What Chapter Tactics do they use? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/329912-sons-of-skandia-chapter-master/#findComment-4626488 Share on other sites

Thanks for the advice. I didn't know what a wet palette was but have just checked out a few youtube videos on it and will defiantly give it a try. Good job. What Chapter Tactics do they use? For the most part they will play with IF chapter tactics, but the reason we wanted the chapters structure they way it is was to be able to play a space wolf army (I have a squad of thunderwolves in the chapters colors) or IF tactics. So the idea would be to run a Volsung clan list as space wolves while an army based off one of the other two clans would run IF tactics. A combined force of the different clans would just run IF to simplify it.
