Beaky Brigade
Just in case anyone was wondering what the new resin window looks like: It seems a perfect substitute, it's not warped and there is one air bubble, but it's trapped near the top in an area which will be painted as a window frame anyway if you care about tiny details. A.T.
I should probably check mine if there is a risk it may be bubbled / bent, still in it's box as i'm trying to finish out my mechanicus painting project from last christmas and keep getting sidetracked. Interrogator-Chaplain Ezra
They don't sell those outside the whole kit, do they? I bought my SoBs second-hand, and none of my Immolators have their windows. I don't think so, it may be worth contacting GW customer support with a picture of your tanks, just honestly and nicely say what the circumstances are and offer to pay postage and they might send you one for free, or at least come up with an arrangement. They worst they can say is no after all. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/329914-immolator-resin-window/#findComment-4625223 Share on other sites
Rod.H
I'd not mind a few more. However, I suspect that you'd have some trouble getting them to do it as Immolators have gone out of stock, again! I would not be surprised if it was window batches causing this! Shifte
They were back in stock today. I ordered 7. >_> I only had one immolator, all these years, and in my 15 y/o wisdom I built a heavy bolter turret. No more! :P Is it possible to paint it all, then add the window? I've not built mine but I assume you need to do that unless you are great at masking. It should just pop into the hole at the end. Arkaniss
It was many years ago when I assembled my Immo's, but I'm pretty sure you just glue the canopy on the outside yeah. Though I would always recommend leaving the turret at least partly unassembled so it's easier to paint the inside :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/329914-immolator-resin-window/#findComment-4626859 Share on other sites
A.T.
I only had one immolator, all these years, and in my 15 y/o wisdom I built a heavy bolter turret. No more! Is it possible to paint it all, then add the window? The plastic canopies hold themselves in place reasonably well when the model is upright (just add more paint if loose) and can be swapped between the immolator turret and rhino cupola as required - so i'd normally advise against glue. bkde
It's been awhile but I think all my immo's came with two windows. Although I do remember calling GW and pulling the "hi I just received my order and the clear plastic bit appears to be missing" card. They were really good about shipping one free of charge. Three immolator kits later and I have three rhino cupolas and three immo weapon turrets. On the older clear plastic windows, prior to painting use sand paper to gently sand the window trim, otherwise the paint won't stick. Unsure if the resin has the same issue. I painted all the canopies separately, then glued in place after with white glue, superglue will fog the plastic. Cheers!
