MrDarth151
I'd say as far as pure action is concerned, Legion of the Damned is one of the best books out there. I cannot think of a single action scene I found dull, a rarity for even the best of BL books for me. Necropolis of course, for an excellent IG vs Chaos war. Fight between Curze and The Lion in Savage Weapons. Wargamer
Does the whole of Necropolis count? Seconded. Necropolis is just fantastic, both for the scale of the devastation, the gut-wrenching tragedies, the heroism and the chaos that happens behind the lines. Necropolis is one of those books that beats you over the head with the idea that armies live or die by logistics, not soldiers. Fight between Curze and The Lion in Savage Weapons. Necropolis was indeed an uber cool 'Stalingrad' warfare. But it was not an excellent IG vs Chaos war. Because we haven't seen anything particularly 'Chaos' till the last pages. Zoicans seems more as a lobotomised robots instead of 'Blood Pact' or Chaos Cultists. 'Fight between Curze and The Lion in Savage Weapons.' was indeed and amazing one. Hope we will get it from Forge World in their next book 'Angelus'. The Wolves attacking the orbital station in Prospero Burns. The attack on Shrike in A Thousand Sons, particularly the Gunship attack and the descriptions of the three Legions as they attack the final mountain fortress. Little Horus versus Tarik, heartbreaking. The madness of the World Eaters throughout Betrayer in every battle scene. And not a battle scene, but the reversal of the countdown clock in Know No Fear as the UltraMarine survivors regroup and converge on Ventanus's position. Aximand vs Tarik was sad. But poorly written in 'Galaxy in Flames'. It would have been good for Abnett to do that moment justice via some short.
