Just4uCupCake
Ok so I'm running Pask in a punisher and I'm running 2 tanks with him. What should I run? Anti infantry only? Or balance it with Anti MEQ and TEQ with a executioner I am just worried about gets hot roles but I kinda want to go with it. And I'm running another squad of lemans as heavy support I know I want to run 2 vanquishers for my anti tank but what do I run with this squad for the last tank? A standard leman? I'm going for more tanks and less upgrades in my list to overwhelm the enemy with lots of armor. Or if you think I should max out my tanks and out sponsons on them let me know Hank you Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330236-pask-unit-question/ Share on other sites
dakkamasta
Of course it depends on the rest of your list and what you're lacking. These are in my opinion top picks to go with Pask to get the most out of his preferred enemy and orders: 1. Executioner w/ plasma sponsons - As of the finalised FAQ, preferred enemy allows rerolls for gets hot on blast weapons. This makes the executioner deadly as it will almost always fire a full volley and rarely hurt itself. It also can take out any from of infantry reliably well and can double up as light anti-tank. 2. Punisher w/ heavy bolters - Self explanatory, for when you really need infantry dead. This does limit the units versatility but if the rest of your list has everything else covered it's still a good option. 3. Eradicator w/ heavy bolters - Similar to the punisher, but you should only really take this as a budget option for when you need to cut down on points. Good for the points in my opinion and the ignores cover can be very useful when the situation arises. As for Pask himself, I would recommend you take multi-meltas sponsons and a lascannon on the hull. Despite that this would seem to clash with the punisher's role, taking these weapons gets the most out of his Crack Shot rule and makes him absolutely frightening against vehicles of all types especially combined with the rending punisher cannon. The heavy bolters on the other hand, whilst making him better against infantry, make him far less versatile against a wide range of targets. P.S. I would recommend only taking 1 tank as a buddy for him. By taking a full squadron you're loads of points into 1 unit that will often overkill what it shoots at. Remember that you split-fire order only applies to 1 tank, so if you really want a 3rd leman russ, take it as it's own unit to increase target saturation and to give you more flexibility in what you can shoot at. duz_
I agree only 1 buddy is a better option. Less of a point sink and target. Also moving 3 tanks keeping coherency and LOS can be tricky depending on how much terrain you use. I find even on a 6x4 6+ tanks it can become a parking lot. WarriorFish
Yes, a three Russ squadron is cumbersome and expensive and Pask is enough of a fire magnet as it is! For a Punisher build an Exterminator is a good choice as it matches nicely, otherwise an Eradicator for a cheaper option that can also help take down hordes is always useful :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330236-pask-unit-question/#findComment-4633919 Share on other sites
Just4uCupCake
I'm lacking anti tank for AV 13 and 14 I have sentinels with auto cannons and heavy weapons teams with Autocannons and a standard battle tank leman Russ with a HB. I was thinking of throwing a squad of two vanquishers as another HQ choice with a tank commander and then running another squad as heavy support of 2 leman Russ battle tank and a eradicator. I have my 2 other heavy slots filled with hydras and wyverns Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330236-pask-unit-question/#findComment-4633995 Share on other sites
Shamansky
If there's nothing else but Russes in your heavy support slots, do not put those two LRBT and eradicator in one sqadron as they will always have to shoot the same target which can lead to an overkill and waste of shooting phase Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330236-pask-unit-question/#findComment-4634083 Share on other sites
Ulrik_Ironfist
Or, you could use Armored Battlegroup, and have so many tanks. All of the tanks. Tanks for days. Leman Russ as troops, commissar tanks, 4HP commissar and command tanks, instant death vanquishers, for killing all the monstrous creatures... Captain Titus
For running Pask, I recommend only running 1 tank with him. I prefer to run a LRBT with Pasks Punisher because with split fire, the Punisher can take out Infantry while the LRBT takes out other targets.
